ERX 8.0.x Hardware Guide
1. Determine the part number and serial number of the component. For
instructions
, see “Locating Component Serial Numbers on pa ge 152.
2. Obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number from the Juniper
Networks Tech
nical Assistance Center (JTAC). See “Information You Might
Need to Supply to JTAC” on page 153.
Provide the fo
llowing information in your e-mail message or during th e
telephon e call:
Part number a
nd serial number of component
Your name, or
ganization name, telephone number, and fax number
The shipping
address for the replacement component, including contact
name and phone number
Description of the failure
The support representative validates your request and issues an RMA number
for return of the component.
3. Pack the routing node or component for shipment, performing the procedure
described in “Returning Products for Repair or Replacement” on page 154.
Locating Component Serial Numbers
Before contacting Juniper Networks to request a Return Materials Authorization
(RMA), you m
ust find the serial number on the chassis or component. To list all the
chassis modules and their serial numbers, enter the following co mma nd:

hardware
You can also find the serial numbers on the modules. ID stickers are
usually ap
plied ne ar the ejector. See Figure 57.
Fan trays a
re no t listed in the show hardware comm and output. ERX-7xx model
and ERX-14xx model fan trays have stickers on the faceplate. For the ERX-310
router, you must remove the fan tray to view the serial number ID sticker.
