1 1. SAFETY RULES 1. To reduce the risk of electric shock, insure electricity has been turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning. 2. All wiring must be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local electrical codes. Electrical installation should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician. 10. Do not use water or detergents when cleaning the fan or fan blades. A dry dust cloth or lightly dampened cloth will be suitable for most cleaning. 3.

3 4. MOUNTING OPTIONS If there isn't an existing UL (cUL for Canadian Installation) listed mounting box, then read the following instructions. Disconnect the power by removing fuses or turning off circuit breakers Outlet box Fig. 1 Secure the outlet box directly to the building structure. Use appropriate fasteners and building materials. The outlet box and its support must be able to fully support the moving weight of the fan (at least 50 lbs). Do not use plastic outlet boxes.
Sutter Place Select TM 5. HANGING THE FAN NOTE: This ceiling fan is supplied with two types of hanging assemblies; a downrod and canopy mounting system and a "close to ceiling" Canopy ONLY system. The "close-toceiling" installation is recommended in rooms with less than 8-foot ceilings or in areas where additional space is desired from the floor to the fan blades. Once you have selected which mounting system you will use, proceed with the following instructions.
5 Step 4. Slip the coupling cover and the canopy onto the downrod as Figure 7. INSTALLATION OF SAFETY SUPPORT (required for Canadian installation ONLY) Fig. 12 Green ground WH BLK Power lines 120v GRN Wiring box WH WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock, be sure you have turned off the power at the main circuit panel. Follow the steps below to connect the fan to your household wiring. Use the wire connecting nuts suppled with your fan. Secure the connectors with electrical tape. Make sure there are no loose wire strands or connections. Step 1.

Ceiling mounting bracket Screws Canopy Fig. 14 Step 2. Slide the canopy up to ceiling and attach the canopy to the ceiling mounting bracket using 4 screws at the top edge of the mounting bracket. Insert each screw through the canopy mounting hole and into the mounting bracket. Tighten all screws securely. (Fig.
Sutter Place Select TM 8 9. ATTACHING THE FAN BLADES CAUTION: Remove the five rubber shipping blocks attached to the face of the motor. These blocks keep the motor from shifting during shipping and MUST be removed during installation. Step 1. Attach a blade to a blade bracket using the screws, metal washers and fiber washers provided. (Fig. 16) Make sure the blade is straight when set on the blade bracket. Tighten each mounting screw until the fiber washer is slightly compressed.
9 11. INSTALLING THE LIGHT FIXTURE Wire connectors Nut Lock washer Switch housing Plug Light fixture 1. Remove the plastic plug from the center of the switch housing. Attach the light fixture to the switch housing by feeding the light fixture wires (black & white) through the hole in the center of the switch housing, then screw the light fixture stem into the center hole. On the inside of the switch housing, place a lock washer and a nut on the light fixture stem and tighten. (Fig.18) 2.
Sutter Place Select TM 12. INSTALLING THE LAMPS AND GLASS SHADE 1. Install 3, 40 Watt, E-12 Candelabra lamps (included). 2. Remove the decorative nut, glass cap and metal nut from the light fixture stem. Slip the beaded pull chain into the outside hole in the glass shade then feed the beaded pull chain from thelight fixture stem through the eyelet in the shade. Now place the glass shade over the light fixture stem. Secure the shade with a metal nut (rubber side touching the shade). (Fig. 20) 3.
11 13. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Turn the power on and check the operation of your ceiling fan. The "center" pull chain turns the light fixture On and Off. The "outside" pull chain controls the 3 speeds of your ceiling fan. Fig. 21 1 pull = High, 2 pulls = Medium, 3 pulls = Low and the 4th pull turns the motor off. The Black Slide Switch on the side of the switch housing controls the direction of the blades "Forward and Reverse".
Sutter Place Select TM 14. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Solution Fan will not start. 1. Check that all fuses or circuit breakers are installed or in the ON position. 2. Check all electrical connections to insure proper contact. CAUTION: Make sure the main power is OFF when checking any electrical connection. Fan sounds noisy. 1. Make sure all motor housing screws are snug. 2. Make sure the screws that attach the fan blade bracket to the motor hub is tight. 3.
