Loading the Batteries This camera uses 2 AA-size alkaline batteries. 1. Load the batteries as shown. 2. Replace both batteries with fresh alkaline batteries when the FLASH-READY LIGHT 14 takes more than 30 seconds to come on. 8 Battery Tips • Remember to keep spare batteries with you at all times. • Read and follow all warnings and instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer. • Keep batteries away from children.
Loading the Film For excellent all-around results for indoor and outdoor picturetaking, use ISO 400-speed film. For use in bright daylight, you can use ISO 100- or ISO 200speed film. If in sunlight, turn your back to the sun and load the film in the shade of your body. 1. Push up on the 2. Insert the flat end of the film cartridge over the FILM SPINDLE 12 . Push the other end of the film cartridge down into the FILM CHAMBER 22 until it fits securely into place. Do not force it into the film chamber.

5. Slide the LENS COVER 8 completely open to uncover the LENS 9 and to turn the FLASH 5 on. GA24 100/21" 4. Close the film door and check the FILM WINDOW 17 (you should see the film information through the window). Do not open the film door after you start taking pictures or you will ruin the film.

Press the SHUTTER BUTTON 1 three times or until the PICTURE COUNTER 2 shows “1.” (If the picture counter does not move, reload the film into the camera and repeat the film loading instructions.) 12 NOTE: The picture counter starts at “S,” and each dot within the increments of 5 represents one picture.
Taking Pictures 1. Slide the LENS COVER 8 completely open to uncover the LENS 9 and to turn the FLASH 5 on. 2. For a sharp picture stand at least 4 ft (1.2 m) from your subject. 4 ft. (1.2 m) 3. Look through the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE 15 to see your subject.
4. Hold the camera steady and gently press the SHUTTER BUTTON 1 to take the picture. After you take the picture, the film automatically advances to the next picture frame. Be careful not to cover the flash and picture-taking lens with your fingers. 14 5. Close the lens cover when you finish taking pictures.
Using the Self-Timer 1. Use a tripod (TRIPOD SOCKET 20 ) or place the camera on another firm support. 2. Slide the LENS COVER 8 completely open to uncover the LENS 9 and to turn the FLASH 5 on. 3. Slide the SELF-TIMER SWITCH 10 4. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON 1 to start the timer. The self-timer will run for approximately 8 seconds before the picture is taken. The self-timer switch will return to the off position when finished.
Tips for Better Pictures • Keep your pictures simple. Move close enough to your subject so it fills the viewfinder but not closer than 4 ft (1.2 m). • Take pictures at the subject’s level. Kneel down to take pictures of children and pets. • Hold your camera vertically to capture tall, narrow subjects, such as waterfall, skyscraper, or a single person. 16 • Add interest to your picture by framing it with a tree branch, a window, or even the rails of a fence. • Keep the sun behind you.
In dim light, such as indoors or outdoors in heavy shade, or on dark overcast days, you need flash. Your camera features an automatic flash that fires when you need it. 1. Slide the LENS-COVER 8 completely open to uncover the LENS 9 and to turn the FLASH 5 on. 2. Take the picture when the FLASH-READY LIGHT 14 glows.
3. Keep the subject within the distance range for the speed of film in your camera. Red-Eye Reduction Some people‘s eyes (and some pets’) can reflect flash with a red glow. To minimize red eyes in flash or fill-flash pictures, use the red-eye-reduction feature. 1. Slide the LENS COVER 8 completely open to uncover the LENS 9 and to turn the FLASH 5 on. 2. Partially depress the SHUTTER BUTTON 1 . The RED-EYEREDUCTION LAMP 4 will stay on as long as the shutter button is partially depressed. 3. Have your subject look directly at the red-eye-reduction lamp before you take the picture. 4.

Unloading the Film GA24 100/21" The film will not advance when you reach the end of the roll. You must rewind the film before you open the film door or you will ruin the film. 1. Slide the FILM-REWIND BUTTON 13 in until it latches and remains in the locked position to start the motorized film rewind. Wait until the motor stops before you open the film door. 2. Open the FILM DOOR 18 and remove the film.

For Owners of the Quartz Date Back Model Setting the Date and Time The date and time feature enables you to record the date in a choice of four formats: (month/ day/year, day/month/year, year/ month/day) or time (day/hour/ minute) directly onto the film. 24 Date and Time Imprinting Press the Mode Button (a) to select the desired data type; then take the picture. Following the exposure, the Print Indicator (d) blinks in the data panel for approximately two-to-three seconds to confirm imprinting.
Mode Selection Use the Mode Button (a) to change the data display as shown. M M M Setting Data 1. Press the Mode Button (a) to select the desired data type. 2. Use the Select Button (b) to move between different parts of the displayed data. With the data displayed, pressing the select button in succession causes the settings for year, month, and then day to blink. In time mode, pressing the select button successively causes the hour minute, and then the colon to blink.
