Kofax Front-Office Server Configuration Guide for Fax
8 Kofax, Inc.
Note The standard fax resolution is either 204 x 196 dpi (fine) or 204 x 98 dpi (normal). Since these
values are typically not supported by rendering applications, the resolutions 200 x 200 dpi and
200 x 100 dpi are directly supported by fax servers. An image with 200 x 200 dpi resolution may be
transmitted without re-sampling using the standard fax resolution of 204 x 196 dpi if the receiving
fax does not support 200 x 200 dpi. This method achieves the best performance and image quality.
As a side effect, the image ratio size is slightly changed, and the transmitted page length will be
reduced by about 4%.
When selecting storage and compression options, refer to Table 2 for a list of recommended
options for different fax servers.
