1. Important safety information Read all instructions before using this appliance. Save these instructions for future reference. If the range is installed near a window, proper precautions should be taken to prevent curtains from blowing over the burners. Have your appliance properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician. The installation must conform with local codes, or in the absence of local codes, in accordance with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.
They might catch fire if they touch a hot surface. Teach them not to play with controls or any other part of the range. Use dry oven gloves when applicable – using damp gloves might result in steam burns when you touch a hot surface. NEVER operate the range with wet hands. NEVER store items of interest to children in the cabinets above a range or on the backguard of a range; children climbing on the range to reach them could be seriously injured.
Cooktop burners Ovens Quality of flames On Natural Gas, the burners’ flames should be a blueish color with, at most, a slightly yellowish fringe. Use care when opening the door. nn Let hot air and steam escape before removing or nn replacing food. On Propane gas, the flames may be “softer”. The cooktop burner flames may have a slightly yellowish tip. NEVER heat unopened food containers.
Take care when touching the range in order to nn minimize the possibility of burns; always be certain Foods for frying should be as dry as possible. Frost on frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan. Carefully watch for spills or overheating of foods when frying at high or medium high temperatures. NEVER try to move a pan of hot fat, especially a deep fry pan. Wait until the fat is cool.
2. Range overview The dual fuel range cooker has the following features: A. 5 hotplate burners B. A control panel C. A multi-function oven D. A fan oven E. A storage drawer Fig. 2.1 Cooktop burners NOTE: Before using the cooktop make sure all burners are in place and all the grates on the range are properly placed. The drawing by each knob indicates which burner that knob controls (Fig. 2.1).
Igniting cooktop burners without electricity Fig. 2.9 If there is a power failure the cooktop burners can be lit with a match. A. Hold a burning match ½” from the burner head, keeping your hand as far horizontally away from the burner as possible. B. Push and turn the burner control knob to HI/lighting position. As soon as the burner flame lights move your hand away. With your other hand, keep holding the knob pressed for a few seconds so that the burner safety device can ‘sense’ the heat of the flame.
NEVER use two griddles side by side. nn Broiling elements Broiling elements After cooking allow the griddle to cool before cleaning. Fig. 2.10 The ovens References to ‘left-hand’ and ‘right-hand’ ovens apply as viewed from the front of the appliance. Convection Convection element element The left-hand oven is a multi-function oven, while the righthand oven is a fan oven.
Multi-function oven modes Convection assisted oven This function operates the fans, circulating air heated by the elements at the top and the base of the oven. The combination of fan and conventional cooking (top and base heat) makes this function ideal for cooking large items that need thorough cooking, such as a large meat roast.
Right-hand fan oven Fig. 2.11 The right-hand oven is a fan oven that circulates hot air continuously, which means faster, more even cooking (Fig. 2.12). Base heat Base heat The recommended cooking temperatures for a fan oven are generally lower than a conventional oven. Defrost Defrost Browning Browning element element Note: Please remember that all cookers vary so temperatures in your new ovens may differ to those in your previous cooker.
General oven tips Fig. 2.16 IMPORTANT: Before using for the first time, to dispel manufacturing odors turn the ovens to 200 °C (395 °F) in Convection Assisted mode and run for one hour. To clear the smell, make sure the room is well ventilated to the outside air, by opening windows for example. The wire racks should always be pushed firmly to the back of the oven. Bakeware and meat pans should be placed level centrally on the oven’s wire racks.
Accessories Fig. 2.17 Fig. 2.18 Oven racks Each oven is supplied with: • 1 deluxe oven tray (Fig. 2.17) • 1 flat rack (Fig. 2.18) • 1 drop rack (Fig. 2.19) The drop rack increases the possibilities for oven rack spacing. Fig. 2.19 The left-hand oven also contains, 1 deluxe oven trivet (Fig. 2.20) Any shelf can be fitted in any of the positions. The oven shelves are retained when pulled forward but can be easily removed and refitted.
3. Cooking tips When the oven is on, DO NOT leave the door open for longer than necessary, otherwise the knobs may get very hot. Cooking with a multi-function oven REMEMBER: not all modes are suitable for all food types. The oven cooking times given are intended as a guide only. • This allows the heat to circulate freely around them. • To reduce fat splashing when you add vegetables to hot fat around a roast, dry them thoroughly or brush lightly with cooking oil.
4. Cooking table DocNo. 031-0004 - Cooking table - electric & fan single cavity The oven control settings and cooking times given in the table below are intended to be used as a guide only. Individual tastes may require the temperature to be altered to provide a preferred result. Food is cooked at lower temperature in a fan oven than in a conventional oven. When using recipes, reduce the fan oven temperature by 25 °F and the cooking time by 5-10 minutes.
5. Cleaning your range Part Finish Recommended cleaning method Burner grates & top of burner heads Porcelain enamel Mildly abrasive cleaner such as Bon Ami® or Soft Scrub®. Dishwasher. Burner base Aluminum As above Maintop top Stainless steel Hot soapy water, nonabrasive cleaner, soft cloth. Sides, toe-kick Painted enamel Hot soapy water and soft cloth. Control panel Porcelain enamel or stainless steel Non-abrasive cleaner, soft cloth.
Never use caustic or abrasive cleaners as these will nn damage the surface. Fig. 5.1 Griddle (Optional extra) Always clean the griddle after use. Allow to cool completely before removing. Immerse the griddle plate in hot soapy water. Use a soft cloth or, for stubborn stains, a nylon washing up brush. ArtNo.311-0030 - Burner head fitting Control panel and oven doors Avoid using any abrasive cleaners including cream cleaners, on brushed stainless steel surfaces. For best results use liquid detergents.
6. Troubleshooting All servicing and repairs must be carried out by a nn qualified service engineer. The fascia gets hot when I use the oven or broiler The range is cooled by a fan. If the fascia becomes excessively hot when the range is in use then the cooling fan may have failed. Should this occur please contact your installer, a qualified repair engineer or Customer Service to arrange for its repair.
Oven light is not working 15 W – 110V / 130V The bulb has probably burnt out. You can buy a replacement bulb (which is not covered under the warranty) from a good electrical store. Depending on the type of bulb, ask for a 15 W – 110V / 130V lamp (Fig. 6.1) or a 40 W – 110 V / 130V halogen lamp (G9) (Fig. 6.2). Note: For bulb type 1, it MUST be a special bulb, heat resistant to 300 °C. Fig. 6.1 ArtNo.324-0005 Oven light bulb Bulb type 1 Turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
