SOLAR PUMP SYSTEM
148
The SP-20 Unit provides automatic control of the solar pumping
station. The unit monitors temperature sensors mounted on the solar
panels and in the storage tank. When the solar
panel temperature is greater than the storage
tank, the pump operates, heating the water
in the tank. At night or in cold conditions
the pump remains off, preserving the heat
accumulated in the tank. The controller
also logs operating parameters providing
information on the amount of energy saved and
collected over time.
Legend Hydronics’ space and labor saving SP-20 SunStation Pump System is
state of the art.
The “heart” of any solar thermal heating system is its pump system and
SunStation’s compact, lightweight design makes it easy to install and
maintain. The insulation shell ensures effective thermal insulation, easy
access and an attractive appearance. Proven for many years in European
applications, the cost-effective SunStation Pump includes ow gauge, ll
& purge valves, circulator, balancing valve, supply & return isolation valves
with built-in check, manual air vent, supply & return temperature gauges,
pressure gauge and pressure relief valve with drain port.
Key Features at a Glance
- Isolation valves with integrated thermometers
- 2 piece insulation shell included
- Electronic control unit (ordered separately)
- Built-in ow meter

SUNSTATION™
Solar Air Vent
(ITEM 860-333)
The SunStation™ pumps heated
water from the solar panels into a
storage tank. The heated water is
typically isolated from the water in
the storage tank by internal coils –
operating as a heat exchanger. The
water in the tank absorbs this heat
and the cooled water is then pumped
back to the solar panels to absorb
heat from the sun.
