Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheapplication.
Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffcompletelyevenifyousettheMastervolumecontrolat
minimum.
Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheMastervolumecontrolandselectMutespeakers.
Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
producesoundintheMULTI-STREAMmodeatRealtekHDAudioManager.
Solution:Oncetheheadphoneisattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant
tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,besuretosetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.The
procedureisasfollows:
1.ClickStartControlPanelAllControlPanelItems.
2.ClicktheRealtekHDAudioManagericon.TheRealtekHDAudioManagerwindowopens.
3.Lookattheplaybackdevices.Ifyouhaveattachedaheadphone,theheadphonewillbeautomatically
setasthedefaultdevice,andtheiconforthatheadphonewillbechecked.
4.Tosetadifferentdeviceasthedefault,justdouble-clicktheiconforthosespeakers.Thaticon
willnowhaveacheckmark.
5.PlayanysoundbyuseofamusicprogramsuchasWindowsMediaPlayer.Ensurethatsound
comesfromthespeakers.
