YoualsocanusetheblackbuttontointerruptthestartupsequenceofyourcomputerandstarttheRescue
andRecoveryworkspace,whichrunsindependentlyoftheWindowsoperatingsystemandishiddenfromit.
Inthissituation,youmightneedtodothefollowing:
•Getthecurrentsysteminformation.
•RescuealefromyourWindowsenvironmentorrestoreback-uples,ifyouhavemadebackupsbyuse
oftheRescueandRecoveryprogram.
•CongureyourcomputerorstarttheThinkPadSetup.
AllthiscanbeachievedfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.ToopentheRescueandRecovery
workspace,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.WhentheThinkPadlogoisdisplayedonthescreen,presstheblackbutton.TheRescueandRecovery
screenopens.
Functionkeycombinations
Tousethefunctionkeycombination,pressandholdtheFnkey1,thenpressoneofthefunctionkeys.
Releasebothkeys.
Powerconservation
Fn+F4
Putyourcomputerintosleepmode.Toreturntonormaloperation,presstheFnkeyonly,withoutpressinga
functionkey.
Note:Ifyouwanttousethecombinationtoputthecomputerintohibernationmodeordo-nothingmode,
changethesettingsinPowerManager.

Switchthedisplayoutputlocationbetweenthecomputerdisplayandanexternalmonitorbyselecting
oneofthefollowingoptions:
