WirelessWideAreaNetwork(wirelessWAN)enablesyoutoestablishwirelessconnectionstoremotepublic
orprivatenetworks.Theseconnectionscanbemaintainedoveralargegeographicalarea,suchasacity
oranentirecountry,byuseofmultipleantennasitesorsatellitesystemsmaintainedbywirelessservice
providers.
SomeThinkPadnotebookcomputerscomewithabuilt-inwirelesshalfsizeWANcardintegratingsome
wirelessWANtechnologies,suchas1xEV-DO,HSPA,3GorGPRS.YoucanconnecttotheInternetoryour

InstallingandReplacingtheSIMcard
YourcomputermightrequireaSIMcardtoestablishawirelessWANconnection.Dependingonthecountry
ofdelivery,theSIMcardmightbealreadyinstalledinyourcomputerorwillbepartoftheshippingcontents
thatcamewithyourcomputer.
