•ByenablingtheLockUEFIBIOSSettingsfeatureonthePasswordmenuwhenyousetthesupervisor
password,youmakeitimpossibleforanyonebutyoutomakechanges.
Setting,changing,orremovingasupervisorpassword
Onlyasystemadministratorcanset,change,orremoveasupervisorpassword.
Toset,change,orremoveasupervisorpassword,dothefollowing:
1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenles,andexitallapplications.
3.Turnyourcomputeroffandthenturnitonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogrammainmenuopens.
5.SelectSecurity,usingthecursordirectionalkeystomovedownthemenu.
6.SelectPassword.
7.SelectSupervisorPassword.
8.Awindowopens,promptingyoutoenteranewpassword.Dependingonyourneeds,dooneofthe
following:
•Tosetapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterNewPasswordeld,typeadesiredpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheConrmNewPasswordeld,retypethepasswordandpressEnter.
•Tochangeapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordeld,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheEnterNewPasswordeld,typethenewsupervisorpassword;thenretypethepassword
youjustenteredtoverifyitintheConrmNewPasswordeld.PressEnter.
•Toremoveapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordeld,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.LeavetheEnterNewPasswordandConrmNewPasswordeldsblank.PressEnter.
Attention:Youmightwanttonotedownyourpasswordandkeepitinasafeplace.Ifyouforgetyour
supervisorpassword,Lenovocannotresetyourpassword.YoumusttakeyourcomputertoaLenovo
reselleroraLenovomarketingrepresentativetohavethesystemboardreplaced.Proofofpurchaseis
required,andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
9.IntheSetupNoticewindowthatisdisplayed,pressEntertocontinue.
10.PressF10.TheSetupConrmationwindowopens.SelectY estosavecongurationchangesandexit.
ThenexttimeyouopentheThinkPadSetupprogram,youwillbepromptedtotypeyourpasswordtoproceed.
