computer,someofwhichissensitive,isstoredonthesolidstatedrive.Beforeyoudisposeof,sell,orhand
overyourcomputer,besuretodeletedatastoredonit.
Handingyourcomputerovertosomeoneelsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperating
systemsandapplicationsoftware,mightevenviolatelicenseagreements.Youareadvisedtocheckthe
termsandconditionsofthoselicenseagreements.
Therearemethodsthatseemtodeletethedata:
•Movethedatatotherecyclebin,andthenemptytherecyclebin.
•UsetheDeleteoption.
•Formatyoursolidstatedrive,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•Setthesolidstatedrivebacktothefactorydefaultsettingsusingtherecoveryprogramprovided
byLenovo.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangetheleallocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.Thedata
isstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseofspecial
softwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatthisdatacanberetrievedandusedforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itbecomesveryimportantthatyoutakeresponsibilityfordeletingallthedata
fromthesolidstatedrivewhenyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedata
physicallybysmashingthesolidstatedrivewithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagnetic
power,thusmakingthedataunreadable.Butwerecommendthatyoumakeuseofthesoftware(payware)or
service(payservice)specicallydevelopedforthepurpose.
