Performingarecoveryoperation
ThissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoperformarecoveryoperationusingtheRescueandRecovery
programondifferentoperatingsystems.

UsingtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceresidesinaprotected,hiddenareaofyoursolidstatedrivethat
operatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem.Thisenablesyoutoperformrecovery
operationsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Youcanperformthefollowingrecovery
operationsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace:
Rescuelesfromyoursolidstatedriveorfromabackup
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutolocatelesonyoursolidstatedriveandtransfer
themtoanetworkdriveorotherrecordablemedia,suchasaUSBdeviceoradisc.Thissolutionis
availableevenifyoudidnotbackupyourlesorifchangesweremadetothelessinceyourlastbackup
operation.YoualsocanrescueindividuallesfromaRescueandRecoverybackuplocatedonyourlocal
solidstatedrive,aUSBdevice,oranetworkdrive.
RestoreyoursolidstatedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup
IfyouhavebackedupyoursolidstatedriveusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogram,youcanrestorethe
solidstatedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup,evenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperating
system.
Restoreyoursolidstatedrivetothefactorydefaultsettings
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutorestorethecompletecontentsofyoursolidstate
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings.Ifyouhavemultiplepartitionsonyoursolidstatedrive,youhave
theoptiontorestorethefactorydefaultsettingstotheC:partitionandleavetheotherpartitionsintact.
BecausetheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceoperatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperating
system,youcanrestorethefactorydefaultsettingsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperating
system.
Attention:IfyourestorethesolidstatedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackuporrestorethesolidstate
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings,alllesontheprimarysolidstatedrivepartition(usuallydriveC:)willbe
deletedintherecoveryprocess.Ifpossible,makecopiesofimportantles.Ifyouareunabletostartthe
Windowsoperatingsystem,youcanusetherescuelesfeatureoftheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceto
copylesfromyoursolidstatedrivetoothermedia.
