•Afteryouchangeyourstartupsequence,youmustbeextremelycarefulnottospecifyawrongdevice
duringacopy,asave,oraformatoperation.Ifyouspecifyawrongdevice,yourdataandprograms
mightbeerasedoroverwritten.
•IfyouareusingtheBitLockerdriveencryption,youshouldnotchangethestartupsequence.BitLocker
driveencryptiondetectsthechangeofstartupsequenceandlocksthecomputerfrombooting.

Changingthestartupsequence
Tochangethestartupsequence,dothefollowing:
1.SelectBoot;thenpressEnter.Thedefaultbootlistisdisplayed,showingtheorderinwhichdeviceswill
bestartedup,evendevicesthatarenotattachedtoorinstalledonyourcomputerarelisted.
•UsetheBootsubmenutospecifythestartupsequencethatrunswhenyouturnonthepower..
2.Setthestartuporderbysingthefollowingkeys:
•Usecursorkeystoselectadevice.
•UseF6orthecombinationofShiftand+tomovethedeviceuptoahigherpriority.
•UseF5or–tomovethedevicedowntoalowerpriority.
•UsethecombinationofShiftand!toexcludeorincludeadevice.
3.PressF10tosavethechangesandrestartthesystem.
Tochangethestartupsequencetemporarilysothatthesystemstartsupfromadifferentdrive,dothe
following:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Turnonthecomputer;then,whiletheThinkPadlogoisdisplayed,pressF12.
3.Selectthedeviceyouwanttostartrst.
Note:Tobootmenuwillbedisplayedwhenthesystemcannotbootfromanydevicesortheoperating
systemcannotbefound.
