PREPARATION STAND INSTALLATION Carefully place the product screen side down on a cushioned surface that will protect product and screen from damage. 2 Assemble the product stand with the product as shown. 3 Install the 4 bolts securely, in the back of the product in the holes provided. ATTACHING THE TV TO A WALL ■ ■ This feature is not available for all models. Here shown may be somewhat different from your TV. ■ PREPARATION We recommend that you set up the TV close to a wall so it cannot fall over if pushed backwards. Additionally, we recommend that the TV be attached to a wall so it cannot be pulled in a forward direction, potentially causing injury or damaging the product. Caution: Please make sure that children don’t climb on or hang from the TV.

VCR SETUP To avoid picture noise (interference), leave an adequate distance between the VCR and TV ■ If the 4:3 picture format is used; the fixed images on the sides of the screen may remain visible on the screen. This phenomenon is common to all manufactures and in consequence the manufactures warranty does not cover the product bearing this phenomenon.

There are two ways of storing channels in the TV's memory. You can use either. One is called AUTO TUNING and the other is called MANUAL TUNING. In AUTO TUNING mode, the TV will memorize the channels in ascending numerical order.

WATCHING TV / CHANNEL CONTROL FINE TUNING ADJUSTMENT POWER 1 Normally fine tuning is only necessary if reception is poor. To remove fine tuning from a channel, reprogram the finelytuned channel with Auto program or Manual Program. If a finely-tuned channel is memorized, the color of the channel number changes to yellow.

PICTURE CONTROL PIP / DOUBLE WINDOW FAV SLEEP CAPTION SIZE PIP lets you view 2 different inputs (sources) on your TV screen at the same time. One source will be large, and the other source will show a smaller inset image. Double Window mode splits the screen into two images, allowing two picture sources to be shown on the TV screen at the same time. Each source is given half the screen. PIP function is available in the Component, RGB, HDMI mode. (But, it can’t adjust 480i resolution of Component mode.
PICTURE SIZE (ASPECT RATIO) CONTROL POWER This feature lets you choose the way an analog picture with a 4:3 aspect ratio is displayed on your TV. When you receive an analog picture with a 4:3 aspect ratio on your 16:9 TV, you need to specify how the picture is to be displayed. ■ Component, RGB and HDMI input source use 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio.

PICTURE CONTROL XD - PICTURE IMPROVEMENT TECHNOLOGY POWER 1 XD is LG’s unique picture improving technology to display a real HD source through an advanced digital signal processing algorithm. When selecting Picture Mode options (Dynamic, Standard, and Mild), XD is automatically changed to Auto. When selecting Picture Mode option (User1 and User2), you can choose the Auto / Manual. When selecting the Manual, you can adjust the XD Contrast, XD Color and XD NR.

When you operate Cinema (3:2 Pull-Down Mode or Cinema Correction Mode), the TV will adjust 24 fps video from movies to 30 fps video for display. This feature operates only in Analog TV, AV and Component 480i mode.
ADVANCED - BLACK (DARKNESS) LEVEL POWER 1 Adjusting the contrast and the brightness of the screen using the black level of the screen. This feature operates only in AV and HDMI mode. AUTO ON/OFF TIME SETUP POWER 1 The time function operates only if the current time has been set. The Off-Time function overrides the On-Time function if they are both set to the same time. The TV must be in standby mode for the On-Time to work. PARENTAL CONTROL / RATINGS Parental Control can be used to block specific channels, ratings and other viewing sources. The Parental Control Function (V-Chip) is used to block program viewing based on the ratings sent by the broadcasting station. The default setting is to allow all programs to be viewed. Viewing can be blocked by choosing the type of the program and the categories. It is also possible to block all program viewing for a time period. You can set the ratings limit by blocking out all the movies with the ratings above a specified level. APPENDIX TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST The operation does not work normally. Check to see if there is any object between the product and the remote control causing obstruction. Ensure you are pointing the remote control directly at the TV. ■ Ensure that the batteries are installed with correct polarity (+ to +, - to -). ■ Ensure that the correct remote operating mode is set: TV, VCR etc. ■ Install new batteries.
The audio function does not work. Press the VOL or VOLUME button. ■ Sound muted? Press MUTE button. ■ Try another channel. The problem may be with the broadcast. ■ Are the audio cables installed properly? ■ Picture OK & No sound No output from one of the speakers Unusual sound from inside the product ■ Adjust Balance in menu option. ■ A change in ambient humidity or temperature may result in an unusual noise when the product is turned on or off and does not indicate a fault with the product.
MAINTENANCE Early malfunctions can be prevented. Careful and regular cleaning can extend the amount of time you will have your new TV.
