PREPARATION ATTACHING THE TV TO A WALL ■ This feature is not available for all models. PREPARATION We recommend that you set up the TV close to a wall so it cannot fall over if pushed backwards. The higher the signal strength, the less likely you are to experience picture degradation. DTV Signal: This function is only available when the input signal is DTV or CADTV.

Once you set up the TV according to manufacturer’s instructions, you are ready to set up the TV Guide On Screen system. The TV Guide On Screen system provides listings for cable-ready, and digital cable services as well as over-the-air broadcast. It does not provide listings for satellite services.

TV Guide On Screen Overview The TV Guide On Screen system has the following features: Eight days of show listings (today plus seven days). ■ Icons that indicate show rating, stereo, HDTV, new episode, etc. ■ Intuitive up/down/left/right navigation using your remote control.

Panel Menu A Panel Menu appears when the M E N U button is pressed on a highlighted tile and additional options are available. It also appears when you press ENTER button on a show starting in the future. ■ When a Panel Menu appears, the highlighted tile changes color to indicate the Panel Menu relates to this TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM ■ tile. ■ The Panel Menu displays below the Video Window. ■ Help is available for a displayed Panel Menu by pressing the INF O button.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM Main Services Listings Access Listings by pressing the TV GUIDE button on your remote or on the front panel of your TV. Listings is always the first Service displayed in the Guide. With Listings highlighted, press the INFO button to display a Help screen. Press the INFO button again to close the screen.
Search Search lets you find shows alphabetically, by category (Movies, Sports, Children, Educational, News, Variety, Series, HDTV) or by Keyword. With Search highlighted, press the INFO button to display a Help screen. Press the INFO button again to close the screen. Category Search Example: Movies From Search, use the E button to highlight Movies.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM 2 Use the E button to highlight a subcategory (for example, All). 3 Press ENTER button to display a list of all Movies, organized by date and time. TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 4 5 Highlight a show and press ENTER button to watch (if on now) or the MENU button to display the Episode Options menu. You can choose to set a recording, a reminder, or tune to the channel. Go to Service Bar - Closes the menu, changes no information, and returns to the Search Service Bar.
Keyword Search Keyword search lets you enter a word(s) to look for a particular show by category or for every show title that matches. Highlight the Keyword navigation label, and press ENTER button to display the Keyword Search menu. 2 Highlight New Search, and press ENTER button. 3 The Search Options menu is displayed. 4 5 6 Highlight Category, and use the F or G button to select a category to search (e.g. All, HDTV, Children, Sports, etc.).
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM 7 A list of all matching shows for that keyword is displayed. You can highlight a show, and press ENTER button to display all airings. You can then highlight a specific listing and press ENTER to watch (if On now) or the MENU button to display the Episode Options menu. TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 62 From the Episode Options menu, choose to set a recording, a reminder, or tune to the channel, as previously described.
Recorded program list Recordings displays a list of previously recorded or currently recording shows on a DVR. 1 TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 2 With Recordings highlighted, press the INFO button to display a Help screen. Press the INFO button again to close the screen. Choose the way Recordings are displayed by highlighting Recordings on the Service Bar and then press the MENU button to display the Recordings Options menu.

Press the MENU button to display the Episode Options menu. 5 In Group View, highlight a show and press ENTER button to view a summary for the all the recorded shows along with the episode list (Press ENTER button again to collapse the episode list). 6 Highlight a specific episode and press the MENU button to display the Episode Options menu.
Schedule Schedule lets you review, edit, or delete Record and Remind events that you set previously. With Schedule highlighted, press the INFO button to display a Help screen. Press the INFO button again to close the screen. An icon identifies the event type: Record Remind Once - Sets a show reminder one time. Regularly - Sets a show reminder every time the show airs on the same channel and starts at the same time.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM Change Setup After you initially complete Guide Setup, you can make changes to Guide settings in the following areas: ■ Change System Settings ■ Change Channel Display ■ Change Default Options 1 TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 2 With Setup highlighted, press the INFO button to display a Help screen. Press the INFO button again to close the screen. Change System Settings 3 This option appears after you have completed the initial Guide Setup process.
Change Channel Display 1 On - The channel is always displayed. Off - The channel is never displayed. Auto-Hide - The channel is only displayed when program information is available. 2 Press ENTER button to display the Channel Editor screen. Then, highlight a channel and press MENU button. A Grid Options menu is displayed. Highlight Go Back to Setup to close the menu, change no information, and return to the Setup Service Bar.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM Change Default Options Change Default Options lets you change default settings in the following categories: ■ General Defaults ■ Record Defaults ■ Remind Defaults Highlight Change Default Options, and press ENTER button. TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 1 General Default Options General Defaults lets you set defaults for the following: ■ The initial Info Box size when the TV Guide On Screen system is entered. Choices are No, Small, Large, and Last Used.
2 Record Defaults Record Defaults lets you set defaults for the following: ■ When to start the record event. Choices are 120 minutes early to 120 minutes late, to On time. (Default = On time) ■ When to end the record event. Choices are 120 minutes early to 120 minutes late, to On time. (Default = On time) ■ Highlight Record Defaults, and press the MENU button to display the Record Defaults menu. Highlight Go to Service Bar to close the menu, change no information, and return to the Setup Service Bar.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM Record And Remind Features Record You can set a show to Record in Listings, Search, and Schedule or change Record settings for a show in Schedule. There are 3 ways to set a show to Record: Using the Record Button on the Remote ■ TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM Press the Record button on the remote to record the show Once with current default settings (Start and End recording On Time).
Highlight the Frequency option, and use the left and right arrows to choose among Once, Regularly, Weekly, and Off, as previously described. Recorder choice: Please choose HDD only. This TV does not support other recording devices. 4 When finished, press ENTER button to highlight Schedule Recording. Press ENTER button again to close the menu. You can see a Record icon for the selected frequency next to the show title.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM 6 Highlight the Frequency option, and use the F or G button to choose between Once, Daily, Weekly, and Off, as follows : Once - Records the time, channel, input, recorder combination one time. Daily - Records the time, channel, input, recorder combination Monday through Friday. Weekly - Records the time, channel, input, recorder combination once a week on this selected day of the week.
Remind You can set a show Reminder in Listings, Search, and Schedule or change Reminder settings for a show in Schedule. There are 2 ways to set a show Reminder: From a Panel Menu Highlight a show, and press Menu button to display the Episode Options menu. 2 Highlight Set Reminder, and press ENTER button to display the Remind Options menu. 3 Highlight the Frequency option, and use the left and right arrows to choose between: Once - Sets a show reminder one time.
TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM TM Manual Reminder TV GUIDE ON SCREEN TM SYSTEM 74 1 Highlight the Schedule Service label, and press MENU button to display the Schedule Options menu. 2 Highlight New Manual Reminder and press ENTER button to display the Remind Options menu. 3 Current information (i.e., date, start and end times, channel, input) is displayed. 4 Use the D E F G button to move through the options. Use the number or the D E F G button to change the information, as necessary.
‘ 8 When finished, press ENTER button to highlight Schedule Reminder. Press ENTER button again to close the menu. You can see a Remind icon for the selected frequency next to the input and channel number. Highlight Cancel to close the menu, change no information, and return to the highlighted show. Based on your option settings, a notification screen will appear, if your TV is On at the reminder time.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) TIMESHIFT (PAUSE &REPLAY OF LIVE TV) LIVE TV This function allows the unit to automatically record live TV and make it available for reviewing at any time. With Timeshift turned on, you may pause and rewind normal TV viewing at any time without missing any of the live broadcast. ■ INPUT MODE DAY DAY - + While simplink function is using, Timeshift function is not operated in HDMI1/DVI or HDMI2 mode.
Progressing the Timeshift function The ‘Progress Bar’? 1 After selecting the Timeshift Mode On, press the ENTER button. This function indicates a possible DVR reshowing section, a current on-screen and real on-broadcasting position, a section of section-recording. As soon as Timeshift starts, a progress bar indicating the current recording status is displayed in the bottom of the screen. ■ Press the EXIT button to hide the ‘Progress Bar’ or press the ENTER button to display the 'Progress Bar'.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) Progressing the Timeshift function, play LIVE TV On progressing Timeshift, It can do a diversified playing. INPUT MODE Indicates that the current broadcast and displayed video differ. When playing, press the REW( ) or FF( ) button.
INSTANT RECORDING Use this function to record the program you are watching on the main screen (Analog or Digital broadcast.) Instant Record This function records the currently displayed channel. Select the desired channel to record and then press the button. During recording is displayed. Use this feature to record up to 2 hours of programming. 2 If you want to stop recording, press the stop. 3 button.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) The extra recording time added to the existing setting equals the final recording time. 4 After adjusting the recording time, select OK. The progress bar will be displayed. Total recording duration Elapsed recording time DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER) ■ 5 Press the EXIT button to hide the Progress Bar. Press the ENTER button to display the progress bar. Recording stops when the selected duration is reached or when you press the button.
Watching & Record While recording, you can change channels or inputs without disturbing the recording. The broadcast being recorded can be shown in the lower-right corner of the main screen. FLASHBK APM CC 1 After starting an Instant Record or Reserved Record, change the channel or input. You can check the show being recorded in the lower-right corner the main screen (as shown below). ■ Press the PIP button to cancel or show the program being recorded.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) LIVE TV PROGRAMMED RECORDING INPUT MODE This function is easy to register to reserved recording. DAY - - In order to use this feature, you must first setup the TV Guide On Screen system. DAY + LINK SIMP 1 DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER) 2 Manual Rec screen is displayed as shown below. Use the D E F G button to set the Input, Channel, Date, Start Time, End Time, Frequency.
RECORDED TV PROGRAM LIST LIVE TV You can watch the recorded program list at a glance. MODE DAY - 1 INPUT DAY + Press the button to display HOME menu. Use the D or E button to select the Recorded TV and then use the ENTER or G button.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) Folder List Select a desired folder in the folder list and then press the ENTER button to view the detailed menu. Create: Create new folder. Delete: Delete folder (except ‘My TV’). Rename: Edit folder name (except ‘My TV’). Use the D name. E F G and ENTER button to edit folder Move the cursor to OK and press the ENTER button to save. Cancel: Close the detailed menu.
3 Use D E F G button to navigate the appropriate thumbnail photo, then press the ENTER button to open the popup menu. 4 Repeatedly, press EXIT button to return to TV viewing or press button to return to the HOME menu. ■ If the HDD has a problem performing a function (Recording) related to the DVR, select Yes or No to initialize HDD. If you select Yes, the Recorded List (Recording) will be deleted. If you select No, the DVR may not function properly.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) Playing recorded programs You can play the selected program in the recorded program list. The ‘Progress Bar’? 1 Play a recorded program. 2 While playing, You can see a diversified playback screen as shown below. ■ At first, an icon showing current playback mode is displayed as marking . Then press the ENTER button to display the progress bar. ■ To stop displaying the recorded programs icon, press the EXIT button.
Editing a section LIVE TV You can save the desired screen in the recorded program list after editing the recorded program. 1 INPUT MODE At the point you wish to start editing, press the button. ■ The progress bar will show the edited section as red. ■ It is possible to search ( or ), and pause while editing the section. LINK SIMP 2 When you wish to stop, press the ■ Stop editing the section. 3 If you repeat steps 1,2, it is possible to edit more programs.
DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING) On playing the recorded program, repeat a section You can set the recording to repeat the same section. 1 At the point you wish to start, press the ■ DVR (DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER) 2 The following symbol will appear: . At the point you wish to finish, press the button. The following symbol appears: . ■ Repeatedly play the marked section. ■ You can not make sections of less than 5 seconds. ■ The progress bar for the repeated section will be shown in blue.
FORMAT HARD DISC LIVE TV Erases all programs and initializes the hard drive. PICTURE CONTROL WATCHING PIP (PICTURE-IN-PICTURE)/ POP(PICTURE-OUT-OF-PICTURE)/TWIN PICTURE PIP lets you view 2 different inputs (sources) on your TV screen at the same time. One source will be large, and the other source will show a smaller inset image. Twin Picture mode splits the screen into two images, allowing two picture sources to be shown on the TV screen at the same time. Each source is given half the screen.
Selecting an Input Signal Source for PIP/Twin Picture Use the PIP INPUT button to select the input source for the sub picture. Each press of PIP INPUT button changes the PIP source. You can also select sources for the Sub Input in the SETUP menu. PICTURE CONTROL Swapping the PIP/Twin Picture 1 Repeatedly, use the SWAP button to switch the main and sub pictures. ■ Component 1, Component 2, RGB-PC (or RGB-DTV), HDMI1/DVI, HDMI2 input sources for the main picture can’t be used to swap the main and sub pictures. POP (Picture-out-of-Picture : Channel Scan) Use POP to search the programs of all the memorized channels one-by-one on the 3 PIP screen display, (while the main picture source remains the current channel). The pictures of all the programmed channels are searched with the 3 POP screens. TV 2-0 1 Press the PIP button to activate the POP mode while in PIP mode. Channel selection : Use F button to Enlarge the selected channel being searched on the PIP screen to shift it for viewing on the Main screen.
PICTURE CONTROL PICTURE SIZE (ASPECT RATIO)CONTROL FLASHBK This feature lets you choose the way an analog picture with a 4:3 aspect ratio is displayed on your TV. When you receive an analog picture with a 4:3 aspect ratio on your 16:9 TV, you need to specify how the picture is to be displayed. ■ RGB-PC/DVI-PC input source use 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. 1 APM CC Press the RATIO button repeatedly to select the desired picture format. You can also adjust Aspect Ratio in the OPTION menu.
PRESET PICTURE SETTINGS EZ Picture - Preset EZ Picture adjusts the TV for the best picture appearance. Select the preset value in the EZ Picture menu based on the program category. Daylight, Normal, Night Time Settings are preset for optimum picture quality at the factory and are not adjustable. In the User 1, and User 2 modes only, user can directly adjust the contrast, brightness, color, sharpness, tint.
PICTURE CONTROL Adaptive Picture Mode (APM) FLASHBK Allows you to select your preferred picture mode after comparing the four different picture (Daylight , Normal , Night Time , User 1 and User 2) settings. AUTO ON/OFF TIMER SETTING LIVE TV INPUT MODE The timer function operates only if the current time has been set. The Off-Timer function overrides the On-Timer function if they are both set to the same time. The TV must be in standby mode for the On-Timer to work. If you do not press any button within 2 hours after the TV turns on with the On Timer function, the TV will automatically revert to standby mode.
TIME SETTING SLEEP TIMER SETTING FLASHBK The Sleep Timer turns the TV off at the preset time. Note that this setting is cleared when the TV is turned off. PARENTAL CONTROL / RATINGS Parental Control can be used to block specific channels, ratings and other viewing sources. The Parental Control Function (V-Chip) is used to block program viewing based on the ratings sent by the broadcasting station. The default setting is to allow all programs to be viewed. Viewing can be blocked by choosing the type of the program and the categories. It is also possible to block all program viewing for a time period. To use this function, the following must be done : 1.
Set Password Change the password by inputting a new password twice. For USA 1 2 After inputting the password, use the D or E button to choose Set password. Press the G button and then choose any 4 digits for your new password and enter the them on the new. As soon as the 4 digits are entered, re-enter the same 4 digits on the Confirm. Then your changed password has been memorized.

PARENTAL CONTROL /RATINGS MOVIE & TV RATING Movie Rating (MPAA) - for USA only Blocks movies according to the movie ratings limits specified, so children cannot view certain movies. You can set the ratings limit by blocking out all the movies with the ratings above a specified level. Keep in mind that the movie ratings limit only applies to movies shown on TV, not TV programs, such as soap operas. Lock System After inputting the password, use the to choose Movie Rating.
TV Rating Children - for USA only Prevents children from watching certain children's TV programs, according to the ratings limit set. The children rating does not apply to other TV programs. Unless you block certain TV programs intended for mature audiences in the TV Rating - sub menu, your children can view those programs.

APPENDIX TROUBLESHOOTING The operation does not work normally. Check to see if there is any object between the product and the remote control causing obstruction. Ensure you are pointing the remote control directly at the TV. ■ Ensure that the batteries are installed with correct polarity (+ to +, - to -). ■ Ensure that the correct remote operating mode is set: TV, VCR etc. ■ Install new batteries. ■ The remote control doesn’t work Is the sleep timer set? ■ Check the power control settings.

My Guide listings disappeared after a power failure Some channel numbers in the Guide are incorrect. ■ You should begin to receive listings again within 24 hours. ■ You can correct them using Change Channel Display under the Setup menu. ■ Listings usually appear within 24 hours after a successful Setup. ■ It may take up to a week to fill the Listings grid with the full 8 days of listings. ■ I have not received any Guide listings.
