Status Bar – Service Icons Airplane/Music Mode – Indicates that the phone is in Airplane/Music Mode. EVDO Signal Strength – Shows your current EVDO signal strength. (More bars = stronger signal.) No Service – Your phone cannot find a usable signal. Roaming – Your phone is “roaming” off the Nationwide Sprint Network. Full Battery – Shows your current battery charge level. (Icon shown is fully charged.) Data Service – Sprint mobile broadband data service (EVDO) is available.
Ringer Off – The ringer is set to off. Status Bar – Status Icons Location On – Your phone’s location feature is on and available for location-based services such as GPS Navigation. Silence All – All sounds are turned off. Location Off – Your phone’s location feature is off. Your location is available only for 911 (see page 43). Ringer & Vibrate – Indicates ringer and vibrate mode is set. TTY – Indicates your phone is operating in TTY mode. Calendar – Indicates that you have an event scheduled.

Status Bar – Messaging Icons New Urgent Message – Indicates you have new urgent messages. Camera/Camcorder Resolution Med – Indicates camera resolution is set to Med. Multiple Alerts – Indicates that different kinds of alerts exist. Camera/Camcorder Resolution Low – Indicates camera resolution is set to Low. New Text Message – Indicates you have new text messages. Saving to In Phone – Indicates that pictures or videos will be saved to In Phone.
Turning Your Phone On and Off Turning Your Phone Off 䊳 Turning Your Phone On 䊳 Press . Once your phone is on, it may display “Looking for Service.” When your phone finds a signal, it enters standby mode – the phone’s idle state. At this point, you are ready to begin making and receiving calls. If your phone is unable to find a signal after 15 minutes of searching, a Power Save feature is automatically activated. When a signal is found, your phone automatically returns to standby mode.
Your phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. It allows you to recharge your battery before it is fully drained. The battery provides up to 5.9 hours of continuous digital talk time. When the battery reaches 5% of its capacity, the battery icon blinks. When there are approximately two minutes of talk time left, the phone sounds an audible alert and then turns off. Installing the Battery 䊳 Removing the Battery 1.
䡲 䡲 A red indicator light means the battery is charging. A green indicator light means the battery is at least 90 percent charged. With the Sprint-approved Li-Ion battery, you can recharge the battery before it becomes completely run down. Navigating Through the Menus Note: Your phone’s Sprint One Click main screen gives you instant access to your favorite features. See section 2B “Navigating the Main Screen” on page 31 for complete information.

䢇 䢇 䢇 䢇 Save: Enter a seven-digit or ten-digit number (phone number and area code) and press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Save to save the phone number in your Contacts. (See “Saving a Phone Number” on page 24.) Contact Details: Displays Contacts details for numbers that are already saved in the phone. Hard Pause: Enter digits and select this option to enter a hard pause within a number string. (See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With Pauses” on page 24.
䢇 䢇 䢇 The phone rings or vibrates. The indicator light flashes. The backlight illuminates. The screen displays an incoming call message. If the incoming call is from a number stored in your Contacts, the entry’s name is displayed. You may also see the caller’s phone number, if available. If you set the Call Answer Mode to TALK Only, you also see the following options when you flip open the phone. To select an option, highlight it and press . 䢇 Answer to answer the call. 䢇 Silence to mute the ringer.
Calling Emergency Numbers You can place calls to 911 (dial ), even if your phone is locked or your account is restricted. Note: When you place an emergency call, your phone automatically enters Emergency mode. During an emergency call, press OPTIONS (right softkey) to display your options. Highlight an option and press . 䢇 Speaker On to activate speakerphone mode. (If you are in speakerphone mode, the option is displayed as Speaker Off to deactivate.
䢇 䢇 䢇 䢇 䢇 Contact Details to display the contact details. (If the contact is saved in the Contacts.) Main Menu to display the phone’s main menu. 3-Way Call to initiate a 3-way call. Contacts to display your Contacts list. Voice Memo to record the current conversation. Phone Info to check the phone number, version, etc. Press MUTE (left softkey) during a call to mute the microphone. Press UNMUTE (left softkey) to unmute the microphone. Press to route the phone’s audio through the speaker.
Saving a Phone Number Finding a Phone Number You can store up to 7 phone numbers per contact and 600 Contacts entries in your phone. Each entry’s name can contain 64 characters. Your phone automatically sorts the Contacts entries alphabetically. (For more information, see “2E. Contacts” on page 59.) You can search Contacts for entries by name. To save a number from standby mode: 1. Enter a phone number. 2. Press OPTIONS (right softkey), highlight Save and press . 3.
1. Enter the phone number. 2. Press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Hard Pause or 2-sec Pause. 3. Enter additional numbers. 4. Press to dial the number. – or – Press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Save to save the number in your Contacts. Note: When dialing a number with a hard pause, press SEND TONES (left softkey) to send the next set of numbers. Abbreviated Dialing Abbreviated Dialing is similar to speed dialing. You can use either of the following abbreviated dialing features.
Dialing From the Contacts List 1. Highlight and press > Contacts. Shortcut: From standby mode, press CONTACTS (right softkey) to list entries. 2. Highlight the entry you want to call and press to dial the entry’s default phone number. – or – To dial another number from the entry, highlight the name and press , and then highlight a number and press . Speed Dialing You can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’s speed dial memory.
Entering Text With the QWERTY Keyboard Selecting a Text Input Mode Your phone features a QWERTY keyboard, specifically designed for easy and comfortable text entry. Your phone provides convenient ways to enter letters, numbers, and symbols whenever you are prompted to enter text (for example, when adding a Contacts entry or when using email and text messaging). The QWERTY keyboard uses the same layout and works just like the keyboard on your computer.
Predictive Text Input Predictive Text Input lets you enter text by a few key strokes per word. (To select the Predictive Text mode when entering text, see “Selecting a Text Input Mode”on page 27.) Predictive Text Input uses an intuitive word database to analyze the letters you enter and create a suitable word. (The word may change as you type.) 1. When entering text, press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Text Mode > Predictive Text. 3. Use your thumbs to enter text. To change capitalization, press .
. The word will appear as an option the next time you scroll through options during Predictive Text Input. 䢇 Word Scan to automatically update the word 䢇 Dual Language to enable Dual Language entry. For more information about Predictive Text Input, visit the Tegic Web site at www.T9.com. 䢇 Word Choice List to select whether to display the Text Mode Settings The Text Mode Settings menu allows you specify more automated features in the predictive text entry mode.
䊳 In a text entry field, press and hold the appropriate symbol key. 䊳 Press 䊳 Press twice to lock the function key input mode. Then you can keep entering symbols. To unlock the function key mode, press again. and press the appropriate symbol key. To enter “emoticons” (smileys): 䊳 Select the Smileys mode and press the appropriate key. (See “Selecting a Text Input Mode” on page 27.) Tip: You can also enter animated “emoticons”. Press to display the “emoticons” list and press the appropriate key.
⽧ Getting to Know Sprint One Click (page 31) ⽧ Personalizing the Carousel (page 33) ⽧ Personalizing the Home Screen (page 35) Getting to Know Sprint One Click Sprint One Click brings all your favorite features to your fingertips. Instead of navigating through the levels of a traditional phone menu, this design puts the things you need the most – features like text messaging, Internet access, and GPS navigation – right up front.
䢇 䢇 䢇 32 Tiles – The tiles are the individual icons on the carousel. Each tile displays a specific menu, such as Messaging, Internet, and Call Log. The carousel can hold up to 15 tiles, which you can add, remove, and rearrange to suit your needs. The Home tile ( ) provides access to the phone’s full menu, and it is the only one that cannot be moved or removed. Bubbles – Bubbles are at-a-glance information items that you may see when the Home screen is displayed.
The Default Sprint One Click Tiles Now that you know what the carousel is, it’s time to make it work for you by adding, removing, or rearranging tiles to match how you want to use your phone. Home – View Home screen and bubbles. Adding a Tile to the Carousel My Account – Access links to the Account Details web page, Hear Minutes, and Hear Balance. 1. Highlight and press OPTIONS (left softkey) > Personalize Carousel. 2.
The Default Sprint One Click Tiles Twitter – Access your Twitter account. Removing a Tile From the Carousel 1. Highlight and press OPTIONS (left softkey) > Personalize Carousel. Facebook – Access your Facebook account. 2. Press the navigation key left or right to select a tile, and then highlight Remove Tile and press Sprint Navigation – Access Sprint Navigation, including Drive To, Search, Maps & Traffic, and Share & More. Google – Get easy access to all your favorite Google services.

Press the navigation key left or right to select a tile, Replacing Tiles on the Carousel and then highlight Edit Tile and press If your carousel is full or if you just want to swap out one tile for another, you can replace an existing tile with another. 1. To see more information from a bubble, press the navigation key up or down to highlight the bubble and then press . Adding a Bubble to the Home Screen 1. Highlight and press OPTIONS (left softkey) > Personalize Home Screen. Sprint One Click – Home Screen Bubbles Horoscope – View your daily horoscope. News – Instantly access breaking news and top stories. Sports News – Get breaking sports news. 2. Press ADD (left softkey) and then highlight a bubble (see the table below for available options). 3.
Sound Settings 2C. Settings Ringer Types ⽧ Sound Settings (page 37) ⽧ Display Settings (page 41) Ringer types help you identify incoming calls and messages. You can assign ringer types to individual Contacts entries, types of calls, and types of messages.

Select a category, and then use your navigation key to scroll through the available ringers. You will hear a sample ringer as you highlight each option. 4. Press to assign a ringer. and press 1. 2. Press VIBRATE (left softkey) to select Always Vibrate: On . (If you have already selected it, pressing VIBRATE [left softkey] again deselects it.) To select the vibrate type: 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Others > Accessibility > Vibrate Type. Silence All The Silence All option allows you to mute all sounds without turning your phone off. To activate Silence All: 䊳 2. Select Incoming Calls, Voicemail, Messages, or Alarm/Calendar.
Display Settings Your phone offers a number of options for selecting the audible tones accompanying a keypress. 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Volume > Key Beeps. 2. Highlight an option and press 䡲 . Tone Length to select a key tone length. (During a call, longer tone lengths may be better for tone recognition when dialing voicemail or other automated systems.) 䡲 Tone Volume to select a keypress volume level. 䡲 Tone Type to select the sound of a keypress.
3. Highlight an image and press to view it. (Once you see an image, use your navigation key to scroll through and view other available images.) 4. Press ASSIGN (left softkey) to assign an image. You can choose what to be displayed on the outer screen when in standby mode. 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Display > Screen Savers > Outer Screen. 2. Select No Image, Preloaded, My Photos, Assigned Media, Downloaded Images, or Take New Picture. 3. Highlight an image and press to view it.
Changing the Font Size Location Settings Adjust the font you see when you are entering text (for example, when using the notepad or when adding a Contacts entry). Your phone is equipped with a Location feature for use in connection with location-based services. and press > Settings > Display > Font Size. 2. Select Messages, Browser, Notepad, Dial Digits or Applications. 3. Highlight a size setting and press . The Location feature allows the network to detect your position.
When you turn the Location feature on, the phone displays the icon. When you turn Location off, the phone displays the icon. Messaging Settings Your phone’s advanced messaging capabilities let you send and receive many different kinds of text messages without placing a voice call. (For more information, see “Accessing Messages” on page 115.
2. Press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Preset Messages. Managing Preset Messages Your phone is loaded with 20 preset messages to help make sending text messages easier. Customize or delete these messages, such as “Where are you?,” “Let’s get lunch,” and “Meet me at” to suit your needs, or add your own messages to the list. To edit or delete a preset message: 1. Highlight and press > Messaging. 2. Press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Preset Messages. (You will see the list of preset messages.) 3.
Airplane Mode TTY Use With Sprint Service Airplane Mode allows you to use many of your phone’s features, such as Games, Notepad, and Voice Memos, when you are in an airplane or in any other area where making or receiving calls or data is prohibited. When you set your phone to Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receive any calls or access online information.
1. Highlight and press > Settings > Others > Accessibility > TTY. (You will see an informational message.) 2. Press CONTINUE (left softkey). 3. Press ON to turn TTY mode on. – or – Press OFF to turn TTY mode off. Note: In TTY Mode, your phone will display the TTY access icon when the TTY device is plugged into the phone. When enabled, TTY mode may impair the audio quality of non-TTY devices connected to the headset jack.
Call Answer Mode 䡲 phone is connected to a headset (sold separately). Remember, your phone will answer calls in Auto-Answer mode even if you are not present. Select how to answer incoming calls on your phone: whether you want to press , to press any number key, or simply to open the phone. 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Others > Call Setup > Call Answer. 2. Highlight an option and press 䡲 . Flip Open to answer an incoming call by just opening the phone.
Note: Abbreviated Dialing does not apply to 911 or Sprint 411. Security Settings You can customize your phone to meet your personal security needs. You must enter your lock code to change the security settings. Tip: If you can’t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of your wireless phone number. If this doesn’t work, call Sprint Customer Service at 1-888-211-4727. 2. Select Lock Now. Unlocking Your Phone 1. From standby mode, press UNLOCK (right softkey). 2. Enter your lock code.
Parental Controls 䡲 Parental Controls give you a convenient way to manage wireless usage and access for everyone on your account. Kids get stylish phones to keep connected with friends and family, while you can control Internet access, texting, content purchases, voice calls and camera use. To activate Parental Control feature: 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Parental 2. Select On/Off > ON (left softkey) and then enter and re-enter a new parental lock code. 3. Select Restriction.
My Photos & Videos to delete all pictures and videos in My Photos & Videos. 䡲 Voice Memo to delete all voice memos. 䡲 Shortcuts to delete your shortcuts. 䡲 My Places to delete all places set as My Places. 4. Press DELETE or RESET (left softkey) to confirm the deletion. Resetting Default Settings Resetting the phone to default settings restores all the factory defaults, including the ringer types and display settings. The Contacts, Call History, Calendar, and Messaging are not affected.
To disable data services: 䡲 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Others > Data > On/Off. (You will see a message.) 2. Press DISABLE (right softkey) to confirm that you Press OFF (left softkey) to deactivate the Net Guard. Outer Touchscreen Settings want to sign out. Calibrating the Outer Touchscreen To enable data services: 1. Highlight and press > Settings > Others > Data > On/Off. (A message is displayed.) 2.
Outer Touchscreen Shortcut Menu To set the shortcut menus to be displayed in standby mode: 1. Unlock the phone. 2. Touch . (Shortcut menus list will appear.) 3. Touch 䡲 / to enable/disable a menu. Messaging to view received messages or call your voicemail. 4. Touch The Outer Touchscreen Shortcut Menus allow instant access to menus with the quick touch of your fingertip, without opening the phone. Slightly flick the screen left/ right to display a shortcut menu.

Saving a Number From History Your phone can store up to 600 Contacts entries. Contacts entries can store up to a total of 7 phone numbers, and each entry’s name can contain 64 characters. New Voicemail Message Alerts Retrieving Your Voicemail Messages When you receive a new voice message, your phone alerts you and prompts you to call your voicemail. You can review your messages directly from your wireless phone or from any other touch-tone phone. To dial from your wireless phone, either speed dial your voicemail or use the menu keys. Network, your call is dropped. If your call is dropped in an area where you think Sprint service is available, turn your phone off and on again to reconnect to the network. Roaming on Analog Networks When you roam on analog networks, you will experience quality similar to that provided by other analog carriers today. Although some features, such as data services, may be unavailable, you can still make and receive calls and access voicemail.
When you return to the Nationwide Sprint Network, voicemail notification will resume as normal. Setting Roam Mode Your phone allows you to control your roaming capabilities. By using the Roaming menu option, you can determine which signals your phone accepts. Choose from three different settings on your dual-band phone to control your roaming experience. 1. Can I make calls and use data services at the same time? You cannot use voice and data services simultaneously. If you receive a call while data service is active, your phone forwards the call to voicemail. To listen to a playlist, highlight it and press to open the playlist, and then press again to begin playing from the selected song. (You can also highlight the playlist and use the softkey menu to begin listening.) Backing Up Your Downloaded Music Files Sprint recommends you back up your downloaded music files to your computer.

Do Not Rely on Your Phone for Emergency Calls Using Your Phone Near Other Electronic Devices Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from radio frequency (RF) signals. However, RF signals from wireless phones may affect inadequately shielded electronic equipment. Mobile phones operate using radio signals, which cannot guarantee connection in all conditions. Therefore you should never rely solely upon any mobile phone for essential communication (e.g., medical emergencies).
Turning Off Your Phone in Dangerous Areas To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn your phone off when in a blasting area or in other areas with signs indicating two-way radios should be turned off.
