Poor sound

Noise
• Makesureallconnectionstotheactive
loudspeakersaregoodandsound.
• Makesurenoneofthesignalcablesarerouted
nearACcables,powertransformers,orother
EMI-inducingdevices.
• IstherealightdimmerorotherSCR-based
deviceonthesameACcircuitastheThump
loudspeaker?UseanAClinelterorplugthe
loudspeakerintoadifferentACcircuit.
Hum
• Trydisconnectingthecableconnectedtothe
inputjack.Ifthenoisedisappears,itcouldbe
a“groundloop,”ratherthanaproblemwiththe
Thumploudspeaker.Trysomeofthefollowing
troubleshootingideas:
• Usebalancedconnectionsthroughoutyoursystem
forthebestnoiserejection.
• Wheneverpossible,plugalltheaudioequipment’s
linecordsintooutletswhichshareacommon
ground.Thedistancebetweentheoutletsandthe
commongroundshouldbeasshortaspossible.

No sound
• Isthelevelknobfortheinputsourceturnedall
thewaydown?Verifythatallthevolumecontrols
inthesystemareproperlyadjusted.Lookatthe
levelmetertoensurethatthemixerisreceiving
asignal.
• Isthesignalsourceworking?Makesurethe
connectingcablesareingoodrepairandsecurely
connectedatbothends.Makesuretheoutput
levelcontrolonthemixingconsoleisturnedup
sufcientlytodrivetheinputsofthespeaker.
• Makesurethemixerdoesnothaveamuteonora
processorloopengaged.Ifyoundsomethinglike
this,makesurethelevelisturneddownbefore
disengagingtheoffendingswitch.
• Hasitshutdown?Makesurethereisatleast
sixinchesoffreespacebehindeachThump
loudspeaker.
