Introduction
What’s New With the Release
1-2 UltraNet Edge Storage Router 3000 Version 3.2 Release Notes
are running at the same time. In these cases, the bandwidth is usually split up equally across all
WAN connections.
The Adaptive Rate Limiting feature is configured by specifying a Minimum Transmission Rate and
a Maximum Transmission Rate (MTR). The Adaptive Rate Limiting software will determine how
to appropriately fluctuate between the two rates to use the bandwidth allocated for the idle traffic.
Adaptive Rate Limiting is available on IP circuits only.
Enhanced Control of Fibre Channel Data Traffic
An enhancement to the UltraNet Configuration Manager (UCM) is available as a licensed
advanced feature that allows you to override the default Fibre Channel single frame sequence
queue size.
TANKIO Support for Adaptive Rate Limiting
The Adaptive Rate Limiting feature support includes additions and enhancements to the TANKIO
command set. These include the addtion of mrstats and mrtrace commands, an enhancement to the
cmod mtr command to include minimum and maximum values, and an enhancement to the gmod
command to include changing miscellaneous circuit flags related to MTR operation. Refer to the
Tankio User Interface Commands section of the Edge Command Reference Manual for Version 3.2
(620-000253-030) to see the command descriptions.
Read Block ID
This enhancement permits FICON write channel programs containing Read Block ID commands
(CCWs) with a byte count of four to be processed as emulated commands within FICON write
emulation processes. Read Block ID commands with a 4 byte count are issued prior to the
execution of a subsequent write CCW, enhancing write performance.
