RoHS Compliant 10/100 Ethernet Card Requirements
The new 10/100 Ethernet card differs from previous versions in that operating speed is established
only by auto-negotiation. Attached Ethernet Switches or routers need to be set to auto-negotiation.
Table 1-1 summarizes the differences.
The RoHS compliant card does only auto-negotiation, advertising full duplex 100 Mbps by default.
If you experience trouble establishing a link, try changing the settings on the Ethernet switch or
router first to be sure it is set to auto-negotiation. If problems persist, auto-negotiation may be
changed in the Edge configuration using UCM.
1. Click the circuit on the NetMap display.
2. Click the PPCNode Tab.
3. Click the Ethernet tab.
4. Look for the Duplex: field, and change the selection from Full to Auto.
An old 10/100 Ethernet card connected directly to a new RoHS compliant card will not establish a
link if both cards are configured full duplex (see Known Issues in Appendix A of these release
notes).
