A McDATA switch port defined as FICON (S/390 mode) automatically behaves as a G-Port
(generic port). You are not able to set the port type as you can for open systems. G-Ports first
attempt to bring up a link as an ISL (E-Port). If attached to a non-ISL device, the port
automatically switches to an F-Port.
In general the Firmware Revision should be 09.00.00 or above.
Note: These McDATA switches generally use a setting of 60 for bb_credits on all FICON
extended ports.
