Depending on atmospheric conditions on Earth and the planet being
observed (or photographed), the advantages of color filters can be
anywhere from subtle to dramatic.
Meade Series 4000 filters offer 26mm of clear aperture and are
manufactured from the purest optical glass, dyed-in-the-mass (not
“color coated”). There are no finer filters available for telescopic
applications. They thread into the barrels of virtually any brand of
1.25" eyepiece as well as the 1.25" Meade Basic Camera adapter. They
may also be stacked to achieve selective filtration of the visual color
spectrum.
Each Series 4000 lter is packed in a foam-tted plastic case for safe long-
term storage. The color lters come in four economically priced sets.

Color filters are essential for observing and imaging the moon and planets i n tantalizing
detail. The right filter can mean quite literally the difference between seeing several
small craters in the floor of Clavius on the moon or not; seeing five or six swirls in
Jupiter’s north equatorial belt or not; seei ng the inner crêpe ring of Saturn or not.
