The magicolor 7300 offers complete flexibility when it

comes to output appearance. From fantastic four-color

prints to proof-quality pages, customers can get exactly

the output their looking for.

With the PostScript driver installed, users can select from

two resolution selections: High or Standard. Resolution

selections can be conveniently made through the printer

driver or PageScope Light.

The High resolution of 600 x 600 x 4 dpi (also referred to

as 9600 x 600 dpi-class and as 600 x 600 dpi contone

quality) is the best selection when printing photographic

images and other color documents in which high quality

is a must. Here the printer is able to achieve very high

levels of grayscale (color levels or shades) through its

multi-bit or contone halftoning. Thus, 600 x 600 dpi at four

(4) bits per pixel produces 16 gray levels per pixel, which

simulates 9600 x 600 dpi. The 600 x 600 dpi Standard reso-

lution produces one (1) bit per pixel (binary) output.

Automatic object segmentation is also provided where the

system automatically detects page element types and alters

the halftone screen and source profile. The result is sharper

edges for graphics and text and images that are more pho-

torealistic with no banding.
