POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
Primary Routes of Exposure: Inhalation and absorption
Eye Contact: Irritation
Skin Contact: Some tiles may have dust on them which could produce mild irritation; ordinary good
measures of personal hygiene will minimize exposure.
Inhalation: This item is a solid material; become familiar with inhalation precautions for adhesives and while
cutting product (dust may be generated while cutting). If a cough develops, the individual should be
removed from the dusty area. Seek medical attention if cough persists.
Ingestion: Small amounts, if swallowed, are not expected to cause injury.
Chronic: Not applicable for intact tile. Excessive exposure to tile dust can cause discomfort and mechanical
irritation. Long-term exposure to silica can lead to silicosis and other respiratory illnesses.
Other: This product is an article or building product and, as intact tile, is considered to be relatively non-
toxic, presenting no known hazards to people, except as noted under thermal decomposition by products.
Special precautions should be taken during cutting or when dust may be generated.
FIRST AID MEASURES
If in Eyes: Protective eyewear should be worn when cutting porcelain tile. Flush with water for at least 15
minutes. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
If on Skin: If skin is irritated from handling product (transitory mechanical dermatitis), wash thoroughly with
soap and water. Seek medical attention if condition persists.
If Inhaled: A dust mask should be worn when dry-cutting porcelain tile. If work activities will cause dust to be
generated, then a suitable dust mask or respirator must be utilized.
If Swallowed: Not applicable for intact tiles.
