venting installation
4.3.4 restricting vertical vents
Turn off gas and electrical supply before servicing the appliance.
Appliance may be hot, do not service until appliance is cool.
For safe and proper operation of the appliance, follow the venting instruction exactly.
To avoid danger of suffocation, keep the packaging bag away from babies and children. Do not use in
cribs, beds, carriages or play pens. This bag is not a toy. Knot before throwing away.
!
WARNING
Vertical installations will display an active fl ame. This appearance is not desirable and the exhaust outlet should be
restricted with a Wolf Steel approved restrictor/reducer. This kit is not recommended for short vertical vent runs.
It will be necessary to install the exhaust outlet reducer when venting vertically (refer to “top exit” section).
To optimize performance, all
top vent installations that
use a vertical air terminal will
require a restrictor plate to
be installed in conjunction
with the exhaust outlet
reducer plate (Fig.1).
The restrictor plate can be
bent up for varying degrees of
restriction (Fig.2).
Top vent / Vertical terminal
Our recommendation would be
to leave the restrictor plate fl at
for all vertical installations from
8’ to 40’. Elbows and offsets will
slow ventilation, so adjustments
may be necessary.
Top vent / Horizontal terminal
In most cases, the exhaust outlet reducer plate will be adequate for top vent installations that terminate
horizontally. However, if necessary, the restrictor plate could be used to optimize performance.
