5 Playing on Your Controller
This chapter describes the numerous features available in MASCHINE to adjust and enhance
your playing, both during live performances and when recording Patterns.
5.1 Adjusting Your Pads
MASCHINE provides you with numerous features to finely tailor the way the pads of your con-
troller react to your playing:
Choose a pad mode that best fit your playing needs: 5.1.1, The Pad View.
Adjust the base key to set the pitch of the notes played by your pads: 5.1.3, Adjusting
the Base Key.
Set Choke groups to selectively cancel Sounds when other Sounds are triggered: 5.1.4,
Using Choke Groups.
Create Link groups to trigger several Sounds by pressing only one pad: 5.1.5, Using Link
Groups.
Most of the settings for your pads are available both in the software via the Pad view (see
5.1.1, The Pad View), and on your controller via the Pad Mode (see section 5.1.1, The Pad
View).
5.1.1 The Pad View
In the software the settings for your pads are available in the Pad view, which is enabled via
the Pad View button above the Sound List in the Pattern Editor:
