9. USING THE MIDI ASSIGNMENT EDITOR
The MIDI Assignment editor enables you to create and customize MIDI templates for your key-
board. The MIDI Assignment editor is only configurable from the KOMPLETE KONTROL stand-
alone application, and is not accessible from the plug-in version of KOMPLETE KONTROL. How-
ever, templates you create in the standalone application can be loaded in the plug-in version when
you switch your keyboard to MIDI mode (SHIFT + MIDI).
Before you can access the MIDI Assignment editor, the following steps must be completed to set-
up your keyboard:
Update Firmware
Your A-Series keyboard must be running Firmware version 0.3.9. You can update your firmware by
following the steps in this article: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/

Setup MIDI Ports (Windows only)
Your MIDI templates are synchronised with your keyboard via the Komplete Kontrol
A25/A49/A61 MIDI port. The Windows operating system only allows a single application to control
a MIDI port at any one time, so it is important to ensure that this port is not enabled as a MIDI
Output in any other application. If using a Windows computer, follow the steps below:
1. Start KOMPLETE KONTROL in standalone mode.
2. Open Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Input.
3. Ensure that only the KOMPLETE KONTROL A25/A49/A61 MIDI port is enabled.
4. Now, navigate to MIDI > Output. Ensure that all ports are disabled.
