10 Browsing the Library
The Browser is the place where you can find and load Instruments and Preset Files in KOM-
PLETE KONTROL as well as organizing your own Preset files. You will at first learn about the
Browser basics followed by explaining the browsing workflows. This section details both, the
workflows in the software and on the keyboard side by side.
Browse Mode Keyboard is the preferred for the Workflow Descriptions
When browsing with the KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboard it is recommended to use Browse
Mode Keyboard as it enhances the user experience compared to the on-screen overlay. There-
fore this section describes the workflows using Browse Mode Keyboard which needs to be se-
lected in the software in advance. For more information, refer to 10.2, Selecting Browse
Mode Keyboard.
If you want to learn more about the workflows using the on-screen overlay, refer to 10.13,
Browsing via the On-Screen Overlay.
10.1 Browser Basics
This section describes some general concepts about the Browser.
10.1.1 Browse Modes
KOMPLETE KONTROL provides two ways of browsing with the KOMPLETE KONTROL key-
board, called Browse Modes:
By default, pressing the BROWSE button calls up the on-screen overlay on the computer
screen, which gives you a full overview over the current state of the Browser, controlled
from the NAVIGATE section on the keyboard. The KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser workflow
with the on-screen overlay is described in detail in the following chapters.
Alternatively, you can use the knobs and displays on the keyboard for browsing your KOM-
PLETE KONTROL Library. In this case, the Browser functions are mapped directly to the
keyboard’s Control section, making the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser workflow available
without using the computer screen.
