The C 900 treadmill offers an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. And when youʼre not exercising, the unique treadmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills. ing this manual, please see the front cover of this manual.
PART IDENTIFICATION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly. The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly. Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see if it is preattached. Extra hardware may be included.
ASSEMBLY • Assembly requires two persons. • To identify small parts, see page 6. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until you finish assembly. • Assembly requires the following tools: the included hex keys • The underside of the walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant. After shipping, there may be some lubricant on top of the walking belt or on the shipping carton. This is normal.
3. Remove the four 5/16" x 1" Screws (5), the four 5/16" Star Washers (11), and the two 5/16" x 1 1/4" Bolts (4) from the Left Handrail (88) and the Right Handrail (87). Save the Screws, Bolts, and Washers. They will be used in assembly step 8. 3 Lift the Left and Right Handrails (88, 87) off of the Left and Right Uprights (89, 90). The Handrails will be reattached in steps 7 and 8. 4 89 4. Identify the Left Upright (89), which is marked “Left.
5. Hold the Left Upright (89) against the Base (94). Be careful not to pinch any wires. Insert two 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (7) and two 3/8" x 1 1/4" Screws (8) with two 3/8" Star Washers (13) into the Left Upright. 5 Partially tighten the 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (7) and the 3/8" x 1 1/4" Screws (8) until the heads of the Screws touch the Left Upright (89); do not fully tighten the Screws yet. 89 Attach the Right Upright (not shown) in the same way. Note: There are no wires on the right side. 7 13 8 6.
7. Identify the Left Handrail (88), and hold it near the Left Upright (89). 7 Tie the wire tie in the Left Handrail (88) securely around the end of the Upright Wire (81). Then, pull the other end of the wire tie until the Upright Wire is routed through the Left Handrail. Make sure that the Upright Wire is on the left side of the indicated bracket. 9. Set the console assembly face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the console assembly. Remove the four Screws (A). Next, lift off the Crossbar (93) and the Console Frame (104). Discard the four Screws. 9 A 104 A A 93 Console Assembly 10. IMPORTANT: To avoid damaging the Crossbar (93), do not use power tools and do not overtighten the #10 x 3/4" Screws (9). 10 Orient the Crossbar (93) as shown. Tighten all four #10 x 3/4" Screws (9) about halfway into the Handrails (87, 88).
11. Attach the Console Frame (104) to the Handrails (87, 88) with four 5/16" x 1 1/4" Bolts (4) and four 5/16" Star Washers (11). Start all four Bolts, and then tighten each of them. 11 104 11 11 4 87 4 88 12. With the help of a second person, hold the console assembly near the Left Handrail (88). 12 Connect the Upright Wire (81) to the console wire. See the inset drawing. The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place. If they do not, turn one connector and try again.
. Set the console assembly on the Left Handrail (88) and the Right Handrail (87). Be careful not to pinch any wires. Insert the excess Upright Wire (not shown) into the Left Handrail. 13 Console Assembly Attach the console assembly with six #8 x 1/2" Screws (1) and two #8 x 3/4" Screws (2) (only one side is shown). Start all eight Screws, and then tighten them. 25 25 Attach two Console Clamps (106) to the console assembly with four #8 x 1" Screws (25). See step 8.
15. Raise the Frame (56) to the position shown. Have a second person hold the Frame until step 16 is completed. 15 Orient the Storage Latch (53) so that the large barrel and the latch knob are oriented as shown. Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch (53) to the Base (94) with a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (3) and a 3/8" Nut (12). 56 Large Latch Barrel Knob 16. Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch (53) to the Frame (56) with a 3/8" x 1 3/4" Bolt (6) and a 3/8" Nut (12).
OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD DANGER: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor increases the risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are unsure whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug—if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This product is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit (see drawing 1).
CONSOLE DIAGRAM FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the consoleʼs stereo sound system while you exercise. The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you use the manual mode, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button. As you exercise, the console will display instant exercise feedback.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before you turn on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components. Plug in the power cord (see page 15). Next, locate the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord. Press the power switch into the reset position. Reset HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1. Insert the key into the console.
4. Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. The My Trail tab will show a track that represents 1/4 mile (400 m). As you exercise, the white rectangle will show your progress. The My Trail tab will also show the number of laps you complete. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase or decrease button or one of the numbered 1 Step Incline buttons. Each time you press one of the buttons, the treadmill will gradually adjust to the selected incline setting.
6. Measure your heart rate if desired. Before using the handgrip heart rate monitor, remove the sheets of plastic from the metal contacts on the pulse bar. In addition, make sure that your hands are clean. 7. Turn on the fan if desired. The fan features multiple Fan Decrease speed settings. Press the fan increase or decrease button to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan. Note: If the fan Fan Increase is on when the walking belt is stopped, the fan will turn off automatically after a few minutes.
HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT progress. The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout. The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current segment. At the end of each segment, a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash.
4. Follow your progress with the displays. See step 5 on page 18. If you select an onboard workout, the display will show the time remaining instead of the elapsed time. 5. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 6 on page 19. 6. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 19. 7. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. See step 8 on page 19. HOW TO USE AN IFIT LIVE WORKOUT Note: To use an iFit Live workout, you must have an optional iFit Live module.
When you select an iFit Live workout, the display will show the duration of the workout, the distance you will walk or run, and the approximate number of calories you will burn. The display may also show the name of the workout. If you select a competition workout, the display will count down to the beginning of the race. Note: Each iFit Live button can also run two demo workouts. To use the demo workouts, remove the iFit Live module from the console and press one of the iFit Live buttons. 5.
THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill information and allows you to personalize console settings. function. If the demo mode is turned on, the word ON will appear in the matrix. To turn on or turn off the demo mode, press the Enter button. 3. HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. 1. Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below. CAUTION: Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails. Bend your legs and keep your back straight.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. SYMPTOM: The power does not turn on a. Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor, and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet (see page 15).
Locate the Reed Switch (52) and the Magnet (50) on the left side of the Pulley (49). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). If necessary, loosen the #8 x 3/4" Tek Screw (14), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then retighten the Screw. Reattach the Motor Hood (not shown) with the five #8 x 3/4" Screws (not shown) and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading.
SYMPTOM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on b. If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both idler roller screws clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING: Before beginning this Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back. 1 2. Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended.
