Enabling Tunnel Authentication
To prevent unauthorized users from accessing the corporate network, you can
enable tunnel authentication. During tunnel negotiation, the LAC sends its tunnel
authentication password to the LNS. If the password is not recognized by the
LNS, authentication is unsuccessful and the LAC cannot create the tunnel.

To enable tunnel authentication, complete the following tasks:

If you are using the Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) for PPP
authentication, do not enable tunnel authentication.

1. In the Configuration Manager window,
choose
Protocols
.
The Protocols menu opens.
2. Choose
IP
. The IP menu opens.
3. Choose
L2TP
. The L2TP menu opens.
4. Choose
Tunnel Authentication
. The L2TP Tunnel Security List window
opens.
5. Select an LNS entry from the list.
6. Set the following parameters:
Enable Tunnel Authentication
Tunnel Authentication Password
Click on
Help

descriptions on page A-9
.
7. Click on
Done
. You return to the Configuration Manager
window.
