Installation Guide
This mantel shelf is intended to be installed on a wall above a new or existing fireplace.
BE SURE TO CHECK LOCAL CODES AND FIREPLACE MANUF
ACTURER’S SPECIFICATIONS BEFORE INSTALLING
THE SHELF SO AS TO MAINTAIN PROPER CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL. GUIDELINES FOR PROP-
ER CLEARANCE TO COMBUSTIBLES ARE NORMALL
Y LISTED IN THE FIREPLACE INSTALLATION MANUAL.
When you install the fireplace, be sure to follow manufacturer’s instructions carefully in regard to
locating, plumbing and wiring your new fireplace. You may be required to have this portion of the job
performed by a licensed professional.
Below you will find instructions for three local conditions:
A. Cultured stone over wood framing with drywall or plywood and pre-fabricated fireplace.
B. Masonry fireplace.
C. Drywall over wood framing without stone.

ALLATION WITH CULTURED STONE (WOOD FRAMING AND DRYWALL OR PLYWOOD AROUND
FIREPLACE) (INSTALL SHELF BEFORE INSTALLING THE CULTURED STONE.)
1. Mount a 2x4, 12 inches shorter than the shelf, to
the back of the shelf, flush with top edge.
Locate the two metal straps packed with the
shelf (6 x 3/4” x 1/8”).
2. Mount the straps to the 2x4 (using at least 2”
screws) with about half of the strap protruding
above the shelf, locating straps so that they fit
the spacing of the studs in the wall when shelf
is centered over fireplace.
