How to clean a rug pad
Sometimes, spills that affect the surface of your area rug can seep through to the rug pad beneath it.
Spills on standard waffle pads can easily be wiped away with paper towels, but felt pads can absorb and
lock in moisture. Here are a few tips to keep your pad as fresh as the rug it sits under:
1. Roll up your rug until the pad is completely exposed. We recommend bringing the pad to an
area you dont mind getting wet, such as the garage or driveway. Be sure to lay a piece of plastic
tarp underneath the pad before you begin cleaning
2. Mix some mild, dye-free detergent or dish soap with warm water
3. Dip a sponge into the solution and rub across the entire surface of the pad. Deeper stains may
require scrubbing with a soft bristle brush
4. Using a garden hose or buckets of clean water, rinse away the solution
5. Hang the pad on an elevated surface to allow it to dry thoroughly
6. For felt pads, sprinkle the surface with a thick layer of baking soda to neutralize any odors. Allow
it to sit for at least 15 minutes, then follow by vacuuming
