Kitchen Sink & Drain Installation Instructions
Copper sinks add an elegant touch to any kitchen other material just can’t match. Not only is copper
antibacterial killing most germs naturally in just a few hours, but it’s also a great upgrade for resell and
home value!
Notes:
Review and abide by all building and plumbing codes.
Each Novatto sink should be installed by a professional.
Assess and evaluate your current or desired cabinetry. If you are building or remodeling a
kitchen from scratch, you will be able to choose cabinets specifically made for apron kitchen
sinks. The importance of the cutout is the doors below will be built according to the area needed
for the sink chosen.
Novatto’s copper kitchen sinks are handmade and vary from one to the other, Novatto
recommends using the actual sink for any cuts as no templates are available.
Steps:
Be sure to use care when unpacking the sink, we advise setting it on the packing it was received
with to avoid any possible damage to the sink.
Decide if you want your sink to be under-mounted below your counter or top-mounted so the
rim of the sink sits on the counter.
Novatto recommends a ¼” trim on three sides when using the undermount style. Novatto’s
apron fronts are intended to be installed ¾” out beyond the front end of countertop.
After centering the sink and allowing room for faucets, handles and backsplashes, use a pencil to
outline the sink as your cut-out guide, allowing for any reveal if desired before the actual
cutting.
Install the countertop and seal gaps and overlaps with a silicone sealant. This will keep water
from leaking into these areas and causing mold or mildew growth inside the cabinetry.
Follow manufacturer guidelines for installing drain flanges, drains and disposals. Also check to
make sure the drain is sealed watertight.
Install your faucet into the counter top behind your Novatto sink and enjoy.
When cleaning up after installations, DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS, as they may scuff and change
the finish on the copper. Use soft soap and warm water with a washcloth to clean the surface. If more
