The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the
brightness of the subject.
You can take pictures with greater freedom by changing various settings in [REC] Mode
menu.
•
Set the drive mode to [ ] by pressing 4().
Set [REC] Mode to [ ].
• For details on setting up [REC] Mode, refer to P30.

•
To change the setting while taking pictures, refer to “Using the [REC] Mode Menu” (P129) or
“Using the [CUSTOM] Menu” (P142).
• The shutter speed is automatically set between about 30 seconds and 1/4000th of a second in
the following cases.
– When the [SENSITIVITY] is set to [ISO100].
– When the aperture value is set to F2.5 [when the interchangeable lens (H-H014) is attached].
– When the aperture value is set to F3.5 [when the interchangeable lens (H-FS014042) is
attached].
Taking Pictures with Your Favourite Settings (Programme AE Mode)
Press the shutter button halfway to focus.

• Aperture value and shutter speed are displayed. (It
will flash in red if the correct exposure is not achieved,
except when set to flash.)
• You will not be able to take a picture until the
focus is set, since the [FOCUS PRIORITY] (P144)
is set initially to [ON].
Press the shutter button fully (push it in
further), and take the picture.
• The access indication lights (P25) red when pictures
are being recorded on the card.
