Configuring Lines
Line Services
Line Services determine how line is defined. As a rule, when you are accessing a serial device
through the Device Server, coming from the ethernet side, you want to set the
Line Service to
Reverse Raw or Reverse Telnet.
Raw Settings
When the Line Service is set to Direct or Silent Raw, data is sent through the connection in its
original format. This raw TCP/IP connection is initiated from the Device Server to the configured
host.
Configure the following parameters:
Host Name
Port
Idle Timer
Enter a time period, in seconds, for which the idle timer will run. Use this timer
to close a connection because of inactivity. When the idle timer expires, the
Device Server will end the connection. The maximum value is 4294967
seconds (about 49 days). The default value of
0 (zero) means the idle timer will
not expire, so the connection is permanently open.
Session Timer
Enter a time, in seconds, for which the session timer will run. Use this timer to
forcibly close the session (connection). When the session timer expires the
Device Server will end the connection. The default value is
0 seconds so the
port will never timeout. The maximum value is 4294967 seconds (about 49
days).
The name of the target host.
The port number the target host is listening on for incoming connections.
