Cooling fluid level (03_11, 03_12, 03_13)
The engine cooling system is of the forced liquid circulation type. The coolant circuit
contains approx. 1.7 litres of coolant consisting of a mixture of 50% demineralised
water and glycol ethylene-based antifreeze solution with corrosion inhibitors.
The liquid supplied with the scooter is already mixed and ready for use.
For proper functioning of the engine, ensure that the temperature of the coolant re-
mains in the middle zone of gauge "C" on the instrument panel. If the needle of the
gauge enters the red zone, switch off the engine, allow to cool down and check the
coolant level; if this is not within the prescribed limit, contact an authorised Piaggio
service centre.
The fluid level must checked every 6,000 kilometres with a cold engine, in the way
shown below:
a) Place the scooter in a vertical position on the stand.
b) Loosen clamping screw "A" and remove the cover.
c) Remove the expansion tank cover "B", turning in anticlockwise direction.
d) Look inside the expansion tank; a scale in the plastic indicates the maximum and
minimum level of the coolant.
e) Top up, if necessary, if the fluid level is below the MIN level on the scale inside the
expansion tank.
The fluid level must always be between MIN and MAX level
If the fluid is near the minimum level, proceed with the top-up operation to be carried
out when the engine is cold. If it is necessary to top up the coolant frequently or if the
expansion tank is completely empty, the cause has to be found in the cooling system.
It is then essential to have the cooling system inspected by an authorised Piaggio
service centre.
The coolant should be changed every 2 years.
For this operation, please contact an authorised Piaggio service centre.
