Section 01 Section Before you start To ensure safe driving When you park your car in a safe place and apply the parking brake, the picture appears on the screen. DVD video disc region numbers Head unit Only DVD video discs with compatible region numbers can be played on this player. You can find the region number of the player on the bottom of this unit and in this manual (refer to Specifications on page 67).

When using for the first time, pull out the film protruding from the tray. Replacing the battery 1 Slide the tray out on the back of the remote control. 2 Insert the battery with the plus (+) and minus (–) poles aligned properly.

Playing a disc 1 Insert the disc into the disc loading slot with the label side up. Ejecting a disc 1 Press h. Selecting a folder 1 Press a or b. You cannot select a folder that does not have a compressed audio file, JPEG file or DivX file recorded in it. Selecting a chapter/track/file 1 Press c or d.

Chapter search and track search are not possible when disc playback has been stopped. ! This function cannot be operated during Video CD playback featuring PBC (playback control). ! To perform this function, set the remote control to DVH mode. 1 Press DIRECT. 2 Press 0 to 9 to input the desired number.

With some DVDs and DivX, switching between languages/audio systems may only be possible using a menu display. ! You can also switch between languages/audio systems using DVD setup menu. For details, refer to Setting the audio language on page 25. ! Only digital output of DTS audio is possible.

S.RTRV (advanced sound retriever) Automatically enhances compressed audio and restores rich sound. ! This function is available for CDs and compressed audio files. 1 Press M.C. to display the setting mode. 2 Turn M.C. to select the desired setting. Refer to Enhancing compressed audio and restoring rich sound (advanced sound retriever) on the previous page. 3 Press M.C. to confirm the selection.

Advanced operations using special buttons iPod 1 Basic operations Press M.C. to display the main menu. 2 Turn M.C. to select the function. After selecting, perform the following procedures to set the function.

FAD/BAL (fader/balance adjustment) 1 Press M.C. to display the setting mode. 2 Press M.C. to cycle between fader (front/rear) and balance (left/right).
Section 02 Section Operating this unit Setting the character set You can set the preferred character set for DivX subtitle file, information display and list display. 1 Move the thumb pad up or down to select CHARACTER SET in LANG. 2 Click the thumb pad. A character set setting menu is displayed. 3 Move the thumb pad up or down to select the desired character set. 4 Click the thumb pad. The character set is set. Setting the menu language 1 Move the thumb pad up or down to select MENU LANG. in LANG.
Section 02 Section Operating this unit Changing the level If you forget your code number Please see the following section, and press CLEAR 10 times in the parental lock setting menu. Refer to Changing the level on this page. The registered code number is canceled, letting you register a new one. Setting the DivX subtitle file You can select whether or not to display DivX external subtitles. ! The DivX subtitles will be displayed even when CUSTOM is selected if no DivX external subtitle files exist.
Section 02 Section Operating this unit SCROLL (ever scroll) When ever scroll is set to EVER, recorded text information scrolls continuously in the display. Set to off if you prefer the information to scroll just once. 1 Press M.C. to display the setting mode. 2 Turn M.C. to select the desired setting. EVER (ever)—OFF (off) 3 Press M.C. to confirm the selection.
Section 02 Section Operating this unit 03 Advanced operations Bluetooth adapter Digital Signal Processor An external unit refers to a Pioneer product, such as those which will be available in the future. Although incompatible as a source, the basic functions of up to two external units can be controlled with this unit. When two external units are connected, the external units are automatically allocated to external unit 1 or external unit 2.
Section 03 Section Available accessories Using fader/balance adjustment You can change the fader/balance setting to provide an ideal listening environment for all of the occupied seats. 1 Use M.C. to select FADER in the audio function menu. Refer to Introduction of DSP adjustments on the previous page. # If the balance setting has been previously adjusted, BALANCE will be displayed. 2 Press a or b to adjust front/rear speaker balance.
Section 03 Section Available accessories Using the down-mix function Multi-channel audio can be played back in 2channels with the down-mix function. 2 Press c or d to switch the down mix settings. ! Lt/Rt – Down mixing so that the surround sound components can be restored (decoded). ! Lo/Ro – Stereo mixing the original audio data that does not contain channel modes such as surround sound components.
Section 03 Section Available accessories 3 Press a or b to adjust the speaker output level. +10 to –10 is displayed as the level is increased or decreased. 2 Press c or d to select the speaker to be adjusted. F (front speakers)—C (center speaker)—R (rear speakers)—SW (subwoofer) Note You will get the same results whether you adjust the speaker output levels with this mode or with TEST TONE. 3 Press a or b to select cross-over frequency for the selected speaker.

Section 2 Fix the optional microphone in the center of the headrest of the driver’s seat, facing forward. The auto TA and EQ may differ depending on where you place the microphone. If desired, place the microphone on the front passenger seat to perform auto TA and EQ. Connections 7 Plug the microphone into the microphone input jack on the multi-channel processor. 3 Turn the ignition switch to ON or ACC. If the air conditioner or heater is turned on, turn it off.

The current capacity of the cable is limited. — Use a fuse of the rating prescribed.

Section 04 Section Connections Installation When using a display connected to video outputs WARNING Never install the display in a location where it is visible to the driver while driving. It is necessary to set VIDEO IN to AUX in initial settings when connecting the external video component.

Appendix Appendix Additional Information Frequent loading and ejecting of a DualDisc may result in scratches on the disc. Serious scratches can lead to playback problems on this unit. In some cases, a DualDisc may become stuck in the disc loading slot and will not eject. To prevent this, we recommend you refrain from using DualDisc with this unit. Please refer to the information from the disc manufacturer for more detailed information about DualDiscs.
Appendix Appendix Additional Information When using an iPod, an iPod Dock Connector to USB Cable is required. When you use Pioneer CD-IU50/CD-IU50V interface cable, consult your dealer for details.
