Installation and Maintenance Guide
Applications
Concrete/masonry and cement backer board can be used for interior walls in wet or
dry applications. Gypsum board may be used for interior dry walls. A 3/16” V-Notch
trowel should be used with either white latex-modified thin set (per ANSI Standard
118.4) or Type 1 white organic mastic (ANSI Standard 136.1).
Installation
PIXL recommends using unsanded grout and a minimum 2mm grout joint. This
narrow grout joint will not tolerate sanded grouts; which may also cause scratching of
the tiles’ finish. If a larger grout joint, along with a sanded grout, is desired, we
recommend the use of a soft rubber wall float to lessen the possibility of scratching
the tile’s finish. The gloss finish in darker colors is more susceptible to scratching.
After installation, we recommend the tile be cleaned with a commonly accepted neutral
cleaner. There are many such products. Two examples are Aqua Mix Concentrated Tile
Cleaner or TEC Everyday. A white nylon scrub pad or cheese cloth is good for wiping
off initial heavy film. Finish with a clean grout sponge or slightly damp terry cloth towel,
preferably white, as dyes may transfer to the grout joint.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning is the best way to keep Urban Domain tile looking good for years to
come. Use clean, hot water (combined with a non-abrasive household cleaner, if
needed). Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft microfiber cloth to prevent spots. No
waxes or sealers are needed.
