The model number and the location of the serial number decal are shown on the front cover of this manual. Thank you for selecting the new PROFORM® SPACE SAVER 895 ZLE elliptical exerciser. The PROFORM SPACE SAVER 895 ZLE provides a selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable.
ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical exerciser in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included tool(s), assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver , and a rubber mallet . wrench , an adjustable As you assemble the elliptical exerciser, use the drawings below to identify small parts.
1. 1 To make assembly easier, read the information on page 5 before you begin. While another person lifts the Frame (1), attach the Front Stabilizer (6) to the Frame with two M10 x 80mm Carriage Bolts (82) and two M10 Locknuts (81). 82 81 6 81 2. Remove the indicated screw and the shipping bracket from the Frame (1). Discard the screw and the shipping bracket. 1 2 Tighten the Frame Foot (26) into the Frame (1) as far as possible.
3. Attach the Rear Stabilizer (7) to the Folding Frame (2) with two M10 x 127mm Button Screws (83). 3 83 Hold the handle on the Folding Frame (2) and press the Latch Button (68). Then, lower the Folding Frame until the Rear Stabilizer (7) rests on the floor. 7 Handle 2 68 4. Hold a Hub Cover (75) and a Crank Arm (36) against the left Crank Hub (38). 4 Align the holes in the Hub Cover (75) and the Crank Arm (36) with the unused holes in the left Crank Hub (38).
5. While another person holds the Upright (3) near the Frame (1), connect the Upper Wire Harness (48) to the Lower Wire Harness (49). 5 Insert the Upright (3) into the Frame (1). Avoid pinching the wires Tip: Avoid pinching the wires. Attach the Upright (3) with an M8 x 69mm Button Bolt (80), an M8 Split Washer (90), and an M8 Jam Nut (79). Do not tighten the Button Bolt yet; make sure that the Jam Nut is in the hexagonal hole in the Frame.
7. While another person holds the Console (5) near the Upright (3), connect the wire harness on the Console to the Upper Wire Harness (48). 7 Insert the excess wires into the Upright (3). Tip: Avoid pinching the wires. Attach the Console (5) to the Upright (3) with four M4 x 16mm Round Head Screws (101). Avoid pinching the wires 101 48 3 8. Attach the Transport Handle (116) to the Upright (3) with four Transport Handle Screws (117). Make sure that the Transport Handle is oriented as shown.
9. Identify the Left Upper Body Arm (8) and the Left Upper Body Leg (11), which are marked with “Left” stickers, and orient them as shown. 9 Insert the Left Upper Body Arm (8) into the Left Upper Body Leg (11). Attach the Left Upper Body Arm (8) with two M8 x 41mm Button Bolts (78) and two M8 Jam Nuts (79). Make sure that the Jam Nuts are in the hexagonal holes in the Left Upper Body Leg (11). Attach the Right Upper Body Arm (9) to the Right Upper Body Leg (12) in the same way.
. Hold the Left Front Cover (18) and the Left Rear Cover (19) around the Left Upper Body Leg (11). 11 Attach the Left Front and Rear Covers (18, 19) with three M4 x 32mm Round Head Screws (105). Attach the Right Front Cover (20) and the Right Rear Cover (21) around the Right Upper Body Leg (12) in the same way. 20 105 18 12. Identify the Left Pedal (13) and the Left Pedal Arm (14), which are marked with “Left” stickers.
13. Apply grease to a Pedal Arm Axle (32) and to the two Pedal Arm Bearings (33) in the Left Pedal Arm (14). 13 Next, tighten an M8 x 23mm Shoulder Screw (115), an M8 Washer (88), and a Pedal Arm Cover (31) into one end of the Pedal Arm Axle (32). Do not fully tighten the Shoulder Screw yet. While another person holds the Left Pedal Arm (14) inside the bracket on the Left Upper Body Leg (11), insert a Bearing Spacer (118) into each side of the bracket.
HOW TO USE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER HOW TO FOLD AND UNFOLD THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER HOW TO MOVE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER To move the elliptical exerciser, first fold it as described at the left. Next, stand in front of the elliptical exerciser, hold the handle on the upright, and place one foot against the center of the front stabilizer. Pull the handle until the elliptical exerciser will roll on the front wheels. Carefully move the elliptical exerciser to the desired position, and then lower it.
HOW TO EXERCISE ON THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER To mount the elliptical exerciser, hold the upper body arms and step onto the pedal that is in the lowest position. Then, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion. Upper Body Arms Note: The crank arms can turn in either direction. It is recommended that you turn the crank arms in the direction shown by the arrow; however, for variety you can turn the crank arms in the opposite direction.
CONSOLE DIAGRAM FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The console features the iFit interactive workout system, which enables the console to accept iFit cards containing workouts designed to help you achieve specific fitness goals. For example, lose unwanted pounds with the 8-week Weight Loss workout. iFit workouts control the resistance of the pedals while the voice of a personal trainer coaches you through your workouts. iFit cards are available separately. HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE The lower right display can show your pedaling pace in revolutions per minute (rpm) and the resistance level of the pedals. The display will change modes every few seconds. The display will also show your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sensor (see step 5 on page 17). 1. Press any button on the console or begin pedaling to turn on the console. When you turn on the console, the display and the target pacer coach will light.
5. Measure your heart rate if desired. 6. Turn on the fan if desired. You can measure you heart rate using either the handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sensor (see page 21 for information about the optional chest pulse sensor). The fan has high, low, and auto speed settings; while the auto mode is selected, the speed of the fan will automatically increase or decrease as you increase or decrease your pedaling speed.
HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT During the workout, the target pacer coach will prompt you to keep your pedaling pace near the target pace setting for the current segment. When a left indicator lights, increase your pace; when a right indicator lights, decrease your pace. When the center indicator lights, maintain your current pace. IMPORTANT: The target pacer coach is intended only to provide a goal. Make sure to pedal at a pace that is comfortable for you. 1.
HOW TO USE A HEART RATE WORKOUT 5. Begin pedaling to start the workout. 1. Press any button on the console or begin pedaling to turn on the console. Heart rate workout 1 is divided into 40 oneminute segments. Note: For a shorter workout, stop exercising or select a different workout before the workout ends. See step 1 on page 16. 2. Select a heart rate workout. Heart rate workout 2 is divided into 30 oneminute segments. One target heart rate setting is programmed for each segment.

HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM THE OPTIONAL CHEST PULSE SENSOR To play music or audio books through the consoleʼs sound system while you exercise, plug the included audio cable into the jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player or CD player; make sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in. The optional chest pulse sensor provides hands-free operation and continuously monitors your heart rate during your workouts.
MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING HOW TO ELIMINATE FLEXING IN THE CENTER OF THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER Inspect and tighten all parts of the elliptical exerciser regularly. Replace any worn parts immediately. To clean the elliptical exerciser, use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING: Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
