2.2.14
The sm_query Application
The sm_query application allows the user to view fabric information and to modify
the configuration of the subnet manager. This includes:
Viewing and modifying the current subnet manager configuration.
Viewing a list of node records (i.e., hosts and switches) on the fabric.
Viewing a list of link records (i.e., the fabric topology).
Viewing a list of multicast records.
Viewing a list of service records.
Viewing switchInfo records.
Viewing portInfo records.
The application can be used with the host-based and embedded versions of the
Fabric Manager. Following is a high-level description on how to connect to the
different platforms that run the Fabric Manager:
For the Host-based Fabric Manager:
Local connection method
: Run the sm_query application on the same
host running the host-based Fabric Manager.
Remote connection method
: Run sm_query and connect (via SNMP) to
a remote host running the host-based Fabric Manager.
For the Embedded Fabric Manager:
Remote connection method
: Run sm_query remotely and connect to an
embedded SNMP agent (e.g., such as one running on a SilverStorm 9240).
