The attribute ID, format, and length are also sometimes referred to as the
attribute header. The value of the EMAM attribute header implies nothing
about the physical representation of an attribute in the medium auxiliary
memory.

Attribute
Identifier
Contains a code value identifying the attribute (see
Attribute Identifier Values
on page 244).
Read Only Indicates whether the attribute is read only. When
set to 1, the attribute is read only. When set to 0, the
attribute is read / write.
Format Specifies the format of the data in the Attribute
Value field (see table 137
).
Attribute Length Specifies the length in bytes of the Attribute Value
field.
Attribute Value Contains the current (
READ ATTRIBUTE) or desired
(
WRITE ATTRIBUTE) value of the attribute.
