Even though some earphones let you hear some outside
sounds when listening at normal volume levels, they still can
present a traffic hazard.

You can use an optional microphone
with a

-inch (3.5 mm) plug to extend
the recording range. Your local
RadioShack store carries a wide
selection of microphones.
Insert the microphone’s plug into the recorder’s
MIC
jack.
The built-in microphone automatically disconnects.

Thread the strap’s small loop through the holes on top of the
recorder next to the
MIC
jack. Slip the larger end of the strap
through the smaller loop. Pull the larger loop to tighten it.

You can lock the recorder’s controls so that settings are not
accidentally changed. To lock the controls, slide
HOLD
in
the direction of the arrow.

the controls, slide

in the opposite direction.

The recorder has no power switch. It shows the current time
and date unless you press a button. To turn off the recorder,
remove the batteries.

The recorder has five files for storing messages. Each file
can store up to 99 messages (495 total).

1. Press any button to enter standby mode. The recording
mode, current file number, and message number
appear at the top, and the recorded message length
appears at the bottom.
2. Repeatedly press

to select the file.
