STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER
FAQs
How can I connect to the internet? The RCA Streaming Media Player connects to your home
network using WiFi. A wireless Wi-Fi router and high speed internet connection is required. The
first time you power on the Streaming Media Player, it will automatically search for wireless network
and ask for your password, if necessary.
Can I connect the Streaming Player with Wi-Fi to any TV? The Streaming Media Player can be
connected to any TV with the included HDMI
®
connection. If you've used up all the HDMI inputs on
your TV or are connecting to an older TV without HDMI inputs, you can also connect via composite
audio/video connections using the included A/V cables.
What kinds of entertainment choices are available? The Streaming Media Player will provide
access to both free and premium services. Free access to YouTube videos and music on Pandora
Internet Radio are extremely popular. You can also access photos which have been uploaded to a
Picasa photo sharing account for free. For a monthly subscription fee, you will get access to
streaming movies and TV shows on Netflix and HuluPlus. Or you can rent or buy movies and TV
shows on the Vudu video-on-demand service.
How do I access the premium services like Netflix
®
? You will first need to set up accounts with
the services using your computer. Once you have established an account, the Streaming Media
Player will walk you through final connection. This is done either by inputting your user ID and
password on the TV screen menu, or typing a supplied connection code into the service’s website.
Which of the channels streams content in high definition? The Vudu video-on-demand service
streams video content to your TV in the highest possible resolution 1080p. This requires
compatible HDTV and connection with an HDMI
®
cable. The Netflix and HuluPlus services can
stream video content in 720p high definition.
Can I do anything besides watch videos and listen to music? The Vudu Apps section
provides a wide range of additional content, including weather reports, Associated Press news
stories, stock prices, and access to newsfeeds from your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Can I use the RCA Streaming Media Player in more than one location? The RCA Streaming
Media Player can only be attached to one TV at a time. But you can always hook up to a new TV
and even take it with you when you are traveling. As long as there is a TV to connect to, and an
accessible WiFi network, the Player will remember your settings and work just fine wherever it’s
used.
Can I use the RCA Streaming Media Player outside of the USA? Due to copyright laws and
licensing rights, most of the services provided on the Player will only function inside the USA.
Will the included services ever change? The Streaming Media Player automatically checks for
new software updates and may occasionally prompt you that a software upgrade is available.
Upgrades will not cost you anything, and may add new services or improve existing services.
