4. Service Guide
Oil Seal Assembly All Models
Never insert the oil seal obliquely. The oil seal may
be fall out.
Before the oil seal is pressure-inserted, apply
grease to the oil seal.
Press the oil seal from the outside of the crankcase
using combined special tools (holder and guide).
Pay attention because oil seal pressure-insertion
position differs according to rotor, starter and
engine type.
For the insertion position of particular models, refer
to “4-7 Crankcase Assembly”.
Bearing Assembly All Models
Never insert the oil seal obliquely. Press it securely
until it contacts the snap ring.
Before the bearing is pressure-inserted, apply
grease to the bearing.
Face the bearing identification mark (mark is
recessed) toward the inside of the crankcase and
then insert it.
Press the bearings from the outside of the
crankcase using combined special tools (holder
and guide).

The precision fit between crankshaft and main
bearing is very tight. Be sure to use an insertion jig
to remove the crankshaft.
Never hit the crankshaft by hammer or
equivalent. The shaft’s threading may be lost
or the shaft axis may deform.
Secure the crankcase on support and then press
the crankshaft with the press via the guide.
Never press the crankshaft directly with the
press.
Doing so may damage the shaft’s threading.
