Performing IOP Measurements
WARNING: OCU-FILM tip covers contain natural
rubber Latex which may cause allergic reactions.
1. Instill a drop of topical anesthetic into the eye to
be examined.
2. Secure and position the patient to be measured.
Note: The TONO-PEN AVIA VET tonometer will
function in any orientation.
3. Hold the TONO-PEN AVIA VET tonometer as you
would a pencil and position yourself to allow viewing of
the sensor and the patient’s cornea where contact will
be made. For normal corneas, central corneal contact
is recommended.
4. The corneal surface needs only to be momentarily
contacted. Indentation or additional pressure is not
required and may lead to injury to the eye.
Note: In the unlikely event an Electrostatic Discharge
(ESD) occurs, the TONO-PEN AVIA VET tonometer
may display inaccurate data. Simply re-press the
Activation button and start the measurement again.
