OPERATING FAULTS (continued)
When starter is activated CAUSES REMEDIAL ACTION
• The engine fires once or twice then
dies and is difficult to start when cold.
Immobiliser active. Refer to the “Engine immobiliser”
section.
Starting procedure incorrect Refer to the “starting the engine”
section.

Poor fuel supply or ignition fault. If the vehicle will not start, do not
keeptryingtostartit.
Consult a Renault Dealer.
System for cutting off fuel supply
activated if vehicle has been subject to
severe impact.
See a Renault Dealer. (Refer to
information on fuel cut-off system in
section 5.)
• Vibrations. Tyres incorrectly inflated, incorrectly
balanced or damaged.
Check the tyre pressures and, if they
are correct, have a Renault Dealer check
the condition of the tyres.
• Coolant boiling in expansion bottle. Mechanical fault: cylinder head gasket
blown, water pump faulty.
Stop the engine.
Consult a Renault Dealer.
Engine cooling fan not working. Check the appropriate fuse, otherwise
consult a Renault Dealer.
