OPERATING FAULTS (continued)
On the open road CAUSES REMEDIAL ACTION
Abnormal white smoke from the
exhaust.
Mechanical fault: cylinder head gasket
blown.
Stop the engine.
Consult a Renault Dealer.
Smoke under the bonnet. Short circuit. Stop the vehicle, switch off the
ignition, disconnect the battery.
Cooling circuit fault. Consult a Renault Dealer.
The oil pressure warning light
illuminates
- when cornering or braking. The level is too low. Top up the oil.
- at idle speed. The oil pressure is too low. Consult the nearest Renault Dealer.
- is slow to extinguish or remains
illuminated on acceleration.
Loss of oil pressure. Stop and call for the assistance of a
Renault Dealer.
The engine lacks power. Dirty air filter. Replace the cartridge.
Fuel supply fault. Check the fuel level.
Spark plugs faulty, incorrect gap. Consult a Renault Dealer.
Idle speed unsteady or engine stalls. Lack of compression (spark plugs,
ignition, air leak)
