ASSEMBLY
WARNING:

assembled or if any parts appear to be missing or

OPERATION
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with products to make you
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a
second is sufficient to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do
so could result in objects being thrown into your
eyes resulting in possible serious injury.
WARNING:
Do not use any attachments or accessories not
recommended by the manufacturer of this product.
The use of attachments or accessories not
recommended can result in serious personal injury.
HIGH TEMPERATURE PROTECTION
Li-ion battery packs are equipped with a high temperature
protection feature that automatically deactivates the tool
when it is overheated. To resume operation, allow the tool
to cool and then squeeze the trigger.
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
When the tool is forced or the motor is overloaded, the tool
will automatically shut off. To reset the tool, release the trigger
and resume operation. If the tool still does not resume opera-
tion, remove and reinsert the battery. Do not force the tool.
RECOMMENDED BATTERY PACKS
OCTANE
tools are compatible with all RIDGID® 18 Volt
battery packs, but tool performance is maximized with
OCTANE
battery packs.
If you experience frequent shutoffs due to overload protec-
tion, try using an OCTANE
battery pack.
APPLICATIONS
You may use this product for the purpose listed below:
Fastening drywall using drywall screws
INSTALLING BELT HOOK
See Figure 1, page 9.
The belt hook may be installed on either side of the housing.
Align hole in belt hook with hole in tool’s base.
Install screw to secure belt hook in place.
To uninstall, remove screw and then belt hook.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2, page 9.
Lock the switch trigger.
Insert the battery pack into the product as shown.
Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack
snap into place and that battery pack is secured in the
product before beginning operation.
Depress the latches to remove the battery pack.
For complete charging instructions, see the operator’s manu-
als for your battery pack and charger.
LED LIGHT
See Figure 3, page 9.
The LEDs emit light from the front of the base when either
the switch trigger or grip light switch is depressed.
The LED light illuminates only when there is a charged bat-
tery pack in the tool.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BITS
See Figure 4, page 9.
To install bit holder and bits:
Remove the battery pack.
Pull the sleeve from the gear casing. The sleeve and
adjustable nosepiece come off the gear casing as a set.
Push the bit holder into the opening of the collar until the
ball lock clicks into the groove in the bit holder shank.
NOTE: If resistance occurs, slide the collar back to insert
the bit holder.
