Troubleshooting
Problem Items to check Action Page
Problems with sound
No sound
Check whether you hear sound through
headphones.
If you hear sound in the headphones, there is a
problem with the connection cables or with the
connected amp or speaker.
Could muting be enabled? Disable muting.

A specic pad
does not sound
Could the instrument be “OFF”? Assign an instrument.

Could the instrument’s “Level” be lowered? Adjust the instrument’s “Level.

Could the audio le have been deleted?
The sound will not be played if you have deleted,
moved, or renamed the audio le. Assign a dierent
instrument.

Is the pad connected correctly?
Is the pad’s Type set correctly?
Check the pad’s connection cable.
Set the pad’s Type.

Problems with SD card
Audio le does
not play or is not
shown
Is the audio le format correct? Re-create the audio le in the correct format.

Is the audio le in the correct location? Check the location of the audio le.
Could there be more than 300 audio les in
the folder?
Keep the number of audio les in a folder to 300 or
fewer. Do not create a second-level or lower folder.
Problems with MIDI
No sound
Is the MIDI channel set correctly?
Set the MIDI channels of the TM-2 and external MIDI
device to the same setting.

Has the note number been set properly? Set the pad’s “Note#.

SD card
UNSUPPORTED
FORMAT
This audio le format is not supported.
Check the audio le’s format, and le name
extension.

SD CARD FULL
The SD card does not have enough free
space.
Either delete unneeded data, or use another SD
card.
SD CARD BUSY
Data could not be read/written fast
enough from/to the SD card.
Use a dierent SD card.
SD CARD LOCKED
The write protect switch of the SD card is
set to “LOCK.
Move the write protect switch to unlock the
card.

SD CARD ERROR
The le is damaged. Alternatively, the SD
card is not working correctly.
Check the le and the SD card.
Format the SD card.

NO SD CARD No SD card is inserted. Insert an SD card.

Battery
BATTERY LOW
There is no remaining battery capacity.
The TM-2 has stopped operating.
Replace the batteries. Alternatively, connect the
AC adaptor.

SYSTEM ERROR
There is a problem with the internal
system.
Contact your retailer, the nearest Roland Service
Center, or an authorized Roland distributor, as
listed on the “Information” page.
