Rug Care and Maintenance:
Vacuuming:
Vacuum without beater bar (brush) or use hand-held attachment
Avoid vacuuming fringed edges, tassels, or bound edges to prevent fraying
Spot cleaning:
Blot spills immediately using a clean white cloth
If using any type of cleaner, test for compatibility and colorfastness of the rug by applying a
small amount to an inconspicuous area of the rug
Professional cleaning is recommended
Rug Types:
Tufted/Hooked Rugs:
Vacuum with the grain (run your hand along the surface of the rug to determine what direction
the fibers run in). You may also use an electric carpet sweeper. Spills are best cleaned using an
acetic or citric acid rinse instead of water
Indoor/outdoor
Instructions for indoor/outdoor rugs: mix a small amount of clear, mild detergent with water
Let both sides of the rug dry completely in direct sunlight
Natural Fibers
Trim loose fibers Do not ever pull them
Seek the assistance of a professional rug cleaner for any difficult to remove stains
Shag rugs
Fluff the surface by hand when first opening packaging
Shag rugs will shed due to the high pile height
Before vacuuming, flip rug over and shake out any loose debris
Using a suction only attachment, vacuum in between individual rows on your rug
Leather/Cowhide
Shake out any dirt or debris or use a hand-held vacuum attachment No beater bars
Do not use any chemical cleaners on a leather / cowhide rug
Lightly blot any spills using a clean white cloth
