Connecting to a Power Source You can charge the rechargeable battery SLB-10A by using the SAC-47 KIT which consists of the AC adapter (SAC-47) and the USB cable (SUC-C3). When the SAC-47 and SUC-C3 are combined, they can be used as an AC cable. Starting the recording mode How to use the AUTO mode ( ) Please select this mode for quick and easy picture taking with minimal user interaction. 1. Insert the batteries (p.15). Insert the batteries taking note of the polarity (+ / -). 2. Insert the memory card (p.15). As this camera has a 10MB internal memory, you do not need to insert the memory card. If the memory card is not inserted, an image will be stored in the internal memory.

Press the shutter button once and movies are recorded for as long as the available recording time allows. Movies will still be recorded if the shutter button is released.
Things to Watch Out for When Taking Pictures x Pressing the shutter button down half way. Lightly press the shutter button to confirm focus and flash battery charge. Do not move the camera until the second flash fires. Using the flash frequently will reduce the life of the battery. Under normal operating conditions the re-charging time for the flash is usually within 4 seconds.

You can select the compression ratio appropriate for your application of the captured images. The higher the compression ratio, the lower the picture quality.
Setting up the recording function using the camera buttons Metering Drive mode If you cannot obtain suitable exposure conditions, you can change the metering method to take brighter pictures. You can select continuous shot, and AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing). [Multi] () [Spot] ( ) [Center Weighted] ( : Exposure will be calculated based on an average of the available METERING light in the image area. However, the Multi calculation will be biased towards the centre of the image area.
Setting up the recording function using the camera buttons x High resolution and picture quality increases file saving time, which increases stand-by time. x If the [Continuous], [AEB] or [Motion Capture] sub menu is selected, the flash will be automatically switched off. x If less than 3 pictures are available in the memory, the [AEB] shooting is not available. x It is best to use a tripod for the [AEB] shooting as the time to save each image file is longer and blurring caused by camera shake may occur.

You can select the most appropriate white balance setting for a given shooting environment by setting up the custom white balance. The white balance control allows you to adjust the colours to appear more natural.

Playback () Voice memo Protecting images You can add your voice to a stored still image. This is used to protect specific shots from being accidentally erased (Lock). It also unprotects images that have been previously protected (Unlock). PLAYBACK Voice Memo Protect Delete DPOF Copy to Card 1. Press the Up / Down button and select the [Protect] menu tab. And then press the Right button.
Playback () x Of all the files stored in the memory card, the unprotected files Deleting images in the DCIM subfolder will be deleted. Remember that this will permanently delete unprotected images. Important shots should be stored on a computer before deletion takes place. The startup image is stored in the camera’s internal memory (i.e., not on the memory card) and it will not be deleted even if you delete all files on the memory card. This deletes images stored on the memory.
Playback () Standard Index This function allows you to embed printing quantity information on a stored image. 1. Press the Up / Down button and select the [DPOF] menu tab. And then press the Right button. PLAYBACK Standard Index Size Select All Pics Cancel Back If [Yes] is selected : The image will be printed in index format. 4. Press the OK button to confirm the setting.
Playback () Print size Copy To Card You can specify the print size when printing images stored on the memory card. The [Size] menu is available only for DPOF 1.1 compatible printers. 1. Press the Up / Down button and select the [DPOF] menu tab. And then press the Right button. PLAYBACK Standard Index Size 1. Select the [Copy To Card] menu tab by pressing the Up / Down button. And then press the Right button. Select All Pics Cancel 2. Press the Right button again and select the [Size].
Playback () x [Copy To Card] will not be selected without inserting a memory card. x If there is not enough space available in the memory card to copy x saved images in the internal memory (10 MB), the [Copy To Card] command will copy only some of the images and display [Memory Full!] message. Then the system will return to the playback mode. Please be sure to delete any unnecessary files to free up space before inserting the memory card into the camera.
PictBridge PictBridge : Picture Selection Easy printing You can select images you want to print. When you connect the camera to printer in the Play back mode, you can print a picture easily. Setting the Number of Copies to Print 1.
